Dear beekeeper,

Through our research into administering extra iron to bee colonies we have gained insight into the metabolism of iron in bee colonies. This has also lead to the discovery of various best-practice principles for beekeepers.

Adding a little honey to the winterfeed can help reduce winter mortality. Honey contains the enzyme glucose oxidase (GOX) which slightly reduces the pH of the sugar syrup, making it a little acidic. It does this naturally, and that is favorable for your bee colonies.

This is beekeeper knowledge and experience, and we have now found the scientific explanation for this.

If you also add a little Ferro-Bee®, then that helps even more, increasing the likelihood of your bee colonies surviving the winter.

Feel free to pass on this newsletter to your fellow beekeepers. They can sign up for our newsletters, and so be informed of our research results which can be directly applied in practice.
What is Ferro-Bee®?
Ferro-Bee® is a ferrous formulation. It also contains components that promote iron absorption. Ferro-Bee® has been developed based on our fundamental scientific insights into the processes that cause bees die and disappear. Read more about Ferro-Bee® »
