Low Tech to High Tech Exhibit Reception
Interested in robots, video games, antique phones or classic computers?

We are less than a week away from our Low Tech to High Tech Exhibit Reception. The reception happens next Sunday (September 7th) from 1pm-3:30pm at the Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum [570 E Remington Drive, Sunnyvale].

Our new "Low Tech to High Tech" Exhibit highlights the changes of technology from the abacus to modern day marvels.  We will be expanding our exhibit for the afternoon with additional old and new technology from our inventory. The Santa Clara Digital Game Museum will be lending us some special items for the afternoon.

The Fremont High School Robotics Team, The FIREBOTS, will be demonstrating their robot, The Companion Cube, (shown below) several times throughout the afternoon [1:30pm, 2pm, and 2:30pm].

Admission and refreshments are FREE!  We hope to see you there.

October General Meeting Speaker: Gary Noy

Save the date for our next General Meeting on Monday, October 13th at 7:30pm.  Our speaker will be Author Gary Noy, a history professor at Sierra Community College, who is the author of "Sierra Stories: Tales of Dreamers, Schemers, Bigots and Rogues."  Gary is also the author of many newspaper columns and magazine articles on Sierra Nevada history and culture.

Gary will present a lecture on Sierra Nevada history, with a special focus on how it relates to the Santa Clara Valley.  His book "Sierra Stories" will also be available for sale and signing after the presentation.

Please plan on attending and bringing a friend.  Admission and refreshments are FREE!  Popcorn will be provided as always by Bert Oey and Frank Quinn of Sereno Group Realty.

We hope to see you there!

Antique Sale and Appraisal Faire

Thanks to everyone who came to our Antique Sale and Appraisal Faire last month. The event was a big success, and we are definitely consider redoing the event in the future.  Thanks especially go to our volunteers who kept things running so smoothly throughout the day.

Thanks to Michaan's Auctions whose appraisers helped evaluate the many family heirlooms that the visitors brought for appraisal.  Sorry to those who weren't able to get a reservation; interest was higher than we initially anticipated.

Thanks to the Drop In Blue Grass Band for providing musical entertainment. And thanks to the Lace Museum for demonstrating lace making all afternoon.
