Caltrain's 150th Birthday
Caltrain marks 150 years of railroad service between San Francisco and San Jose with a birthday party at the Santa Clara Caltrain Station that both celebrates the past and looks to the future.
Customers and the public are invited to join us Jan. 18, 2014, from 11am to 3pm at the Santa Clara Caltrain Station [1001 Railroad Ave, Santa Clara, CA], for a community festival filled with exhibits by local rail enthusiasts and historical groups, entertainment and a variety of food booths.
The oldest passenger railroad in the West in continuous operation, Caltrain has been owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board since 1992. In 1863 Martin Murphy, Jr granted property for the railroad that is still part of its right-of-way today.
