The Sunnyvale Historical Society is excited to announce a new event we are planning for next summer. Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 10, 2022 for a fun community event:

“A Walk Through Time (1700 – 2022)”

We will be presenting the history of this area in a variety of time periods, beginning with the Ohlone who were caretakers of the land that later became Sunnyvale. Visitors will learn about some of the various groups of people who immigrated to the area to colonize it, dig for gold, farm, find religious freedom, find a better way of life or more job opportunities. The event will showcase the changing industries in Sunnyvale, beginning with agriculture and the orchards of the ‘Valley of Hearts Delight’ to the high tech companies that make up today’s ‘Silicon Valley’.

There will be entertainment, games, hands-on activities, and more. History lovers, technology enthusiasts, and visitors of all ages will enjoy “A Walk Through Time”. Since we are still in the very early planning phase, full details will be released in the months ahead.

YES, we could use your help!

Due to the size of this event, we urgently need more volunteers on our planning committee. There are tasks big and small, any involvement will help. We will be sending out a separate email shortly with outlines for some of the areas where you can help. In the upcoming email, please take a moment to look over the list to see if there is a project you may be able to take on. Please contact Kim Thurgate, our Event Coordinator at kim.thurgate@gmail.com to discuss details.
