The Stanley Awards Night 2018 has been a hugely successful night for Victorian cartoonists in general and for ACM specifically. Our president Jim Bridges has had a trip to Canberra to attend the award night and catch up with his many old and new friends, sharing the joy with cartoonists who have won and nominated for the awards.

The photos on the left are ACM's lovely supporters:
  • Photo 1: Paul Harvey - who won the Caricaturist Award
  • Photo 2: Peter Player (standing on the left) won the Best Comic Strip Award plus Single Gag Award and was also nominated for Cartoonist of The Year Award.

Ned Kelly Exhibition (Media Man)

When:        1st Nov 2018 - Early December
Location:    ACM Docklands
Weekly Ned Kelly - Toon Bite by ACM

Hi friends and supporters, our latest exhibition is about Ned Kelly

This is really two exhibitions combined into one. The first with large blow-ups, featuring Monty Wedd's comic strip Ned Kelly and how the media (cartoonists) portrait Kelly.

History to Present

The book Ned Kelly by Monty Wedd is the brilliant magic door which takes you back in time to browse through the whole life of the controversial Ned. Is he a hero or murderer? or both? Well, the award-winning cartoonist Monty Wedd spent 146 weeks of Sunday strips, countless hours of research and many trips just to find out the answer and illustrate all the details about the Kelly story, and how he became the most famous figure in Australian history.

Come to our museum to enjoy the 1400cm x 85cm exclusive zoom-up image of the most breath-taking scenes and twists extracted from this book and hear how Jim (ACM's President) shares his view. He will also discuss how other cartoonists have used this famous character to illustrate and express their opinions about Australian daily life issues, about media, the corporate world and the culture.

We currently hold 10 copies of the book Ned Kelly by Monty Wedd. visit ACM to check out the book and buy one for only 50$. Also while you are there, check out Monty Wedd's another masterpiece Bold Ben Hall. Hurry up! It is selling quickly!!!
