The Team that Stands with Me

It seems like about once a week I run into someone in town who says something along the lines of, “You guys have so much going on, things must be crazy for you! Hectic.” The reality, however, is very different. It’s true that the first few years of running this business did feel crazy to me. I had no idea whether or not I would be financially successful. I had no idea whether or not people would continue to hire me. The only thing that I was certain of was that I loved the work and wanted to keep at it. There were many, many sleepless nights, though, and I often wondered how long I could maintain at that level of stress.

Lighted Staircase Railings

While larger construction projects represent the bulk of our work, custom installations remain a niche service that we provide. We love these opportunities to create innovative and elegant solutions to household problems that arise on our projects. These custom lighted stair railings presented a unique opportunity to combine form and function. Our lead electrician, Brad Snyder, lead architect, Ernesto Castaneda, and finish carpenters, Jacob Hyer and Thaddeus Walker all came together to design and build these lighted railings.

Bloomington Cohousing:
A Neighborhood is Forming

Things at Bloomington Cohousing have really picked up in the last few months! We now have 5 homes framed and another 5 foundations in the ground. I'm really excited at the prospect of having the common areas finished this spring, with grass and gardens getting planted and homeowners moving in. It's starting to feel like a neighborhood!

Teaching Architecture & Design at the Project School

We are excited to be a part of a new program with the Project School and Habitat for Humanity to design and build outdoor sheds for Habitat homeowners. Our design team, Alex Minor, Tucker Jaroll, and Ernesto Castaneda visit the students of the Project School every Friday for an hour-long instruction on architecture and the whole world of design. They can be found presenting topics like the design phases, design elements, scale, and measurement, how to interact with a client, how to come up with new architecture concepts and even model making. The Herald-Times covered this year-long housing, sustainability project in this great article
