LADUE BOYS BASKETBALL WIN QUARTERFINALS!
 
Congratulations to the LHWHS boys basketball team for their win over St. Charles West.

They will now move on to the State Semifinals for the first time in school history!

The game will be played on Friday, March 15 at 12 p.m. at JQH Arena in Springfield, MO. Admission will be $9

The State Championship game will then be played on Saturday, March 16 at 2:40 p.m., also at JQH Arena.
 
SPIRIT BUS TO BASKETBALL STATE SEMIFINALS!! 
After the victory over St. Charles West today, the Ladue basketball team took their next step to winning their first State Championship in school history!  We need your support!  Your Rams will play in the State Semifinal game at JQH Arena on the Missouri State University Campus on Friday, March 15 at 12 p.m.

The first 100 students who turn in the attached permission slip and emergency form by Tuesday, March 12, will be riding the spirit bus and attending the State Semifinal game free of charge!  

The Activities Office will be providing your bus transportation and will be paying your admission to the game!  You will only be responsible for purchasing food at the game if you choose to do so!

Date: Friday, March 15, 2019
Departure Time: 7:00 a.m.
Location: JQH Arena @ Missouri State University, Springfield,  MO

Tickets are only free to those students riding the spirit bus. If you ride the bus to the game, you must ride the bus back to the high school.

The bus will return to the high school after the game, approximately 6-7 p.m.

LHWHS Spring Conference Dinner Volunteers

Please sign up to help with our Teacher Conference Meals on March 7th & March 14th.  Your time and item donations are greatly appreciated. Please drop off items in the office anytime before 2pm on the day of the conferences, or in cafeteria after 2pm.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Nominations for 2019-2020

 
We are planning for next year and would like your input for the annual nominations and election of the LHWHSPA Executive Committee. Please take a few minutes and nominate anyone you feel would be a great addition to the executive team. A current Executive Committee member will contact you.
 
SELF-NOMINATION IS ENCOURAGED!
 
We are seeking nominations for Grade-Level Co-Vice Presidents (Parents of the Class of 2023 - Class of 2020), Secretary, Parent District Council Representative and Communications Coordinator.
 
To assist the Nomination Committee, we ask that you list any previous experience the nominee may have at school or in other organizations.
 
Two Ways to APPLY - Please reply by March 31, 2019.

JUNIOR CLASS NEWS


ATTENTION PARENTS OF THE JUNIOR CLASS OF 2020

Your help is needed to make Post Prom a FUN, SAFE EVENING FOR ALL.

The Ladue 2019 Junior/Senior Prom will be held on Saturday, April 13th with the Post Prom party following from 11 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. at Adrenaline Zone in St . Charles.  The Parent Association will sponsor the party in a safe and fun environment free from the influence of drugs or alcohol, at no additional charge to the student’s Prom ticket.

Your junior class students are responsible for planning Prom and the junior class parents are responsible for planning and hosting the Post Prom party.

In order to make this event a success, WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!  The Parent Association will help defray the costs of this evening; however, the bulk of the party is funded by junior parent donations.  Know that any amount is greatly appreciated.  All donations are considered tax-deductible and qualify for corporate matching gifts.

Checks are also welcome and may be made payable to the LHWHSPA with a note “Post Prom” in the memo section. Please mail to the high school or drop off at the front office addressed ATTN: Post Prom Cmte.

We also need many volunteers to keep our kids safe the night of the party.   Volunteer information can found in upcoming newsletters and on the Post Prom web page.  If you cannot volunteer to help please consider a donation to Post Prom.  Once again...any amount is greatly appreciated.

Ladue sent two science bowl teams to compete at the Regional Science Bowl Competition at UMKC this weekend.  

Team 2 made it to the quarter finals and placed 5th overall. Team 1 won the regional competition and advanced to the National Science Bowl Competition, which will be held in Washington, D.C., in April.

Seniors, Applications for the Ladue and the Shepherd Scholarships are due to Mrs. Schlager by Tuesday, March 12. Applications are on the high school website.
 
Operation Fill the Barrel starts on March 4 until March 14, 2019. Our district goal is to fill up 55 large barrels with cans of food, to support people who live in poverty and struggle with hunger in the greater St. Louis region, including 172,000 children. What a beautiful way to do an Act of Kindness by bringing canned meats, soups, chilis, canned fruit, canned beans, canned spaghetti sauce, and pancake mix, starting next week!
 
2019-2020 parking meetings for current Juniors and Sophomores will occur during Seminar in the PAC on Thursday, April 4.  Juniors will be during L1 and Sophomores during L2.
 
Current Sophomores interested in leadership; apply for Youth Leadership St. Louis. Youth Leadership St. Louis will allow you to learn about different issues in the region, give you the opportunity to connect and learn from community leaders, collaborate with your peers and put your leadership skills into action. Pick up an application in 1182 during any seminar or contact Mrs. Devall for more information.
 
The 2019 Mr. Ladue fundraiser will occur on March 12, at 7 pm in the PAC.  Tickets go on sale during lunches during the week of March 4.
 
Are you interested in a more personal high school experience?  Small classes? The same classes everyday, with the same teachers? A little time in your day to catch up or prepare the rest of the day?  LEADS Academy has it and is enrolling now! Ask Mrs.Durham, Mrs. Guhr, Mr. Harrison, Ms. Krejnik, Dr. Weltig or Dr. Rapoff for more information.
 
Are you interested in earning $120, serving your community and possibly earning extra credit?  Then see your Social Studies teacher about applying to be a Student Election Judge for the April 2 election. You must be a U.S. citizen, at least 15 years old and be in 10th grade or higher.
 
Do you want to help the Animal Allies club support animals in need?  The Humane Society is currently in need of old blankets and towels, washable dog toys, pet beds, pet food, dog treats and paper towels.  Donation bins are located outside of the main office.
 
JSU will be hosting a special guest speaker on the Tuesday before Spring Break, March 12, 2019, in room 3328. Find out who it is, listen to what the person has to say about Judaism, and eat some pizza, too!
 
Congratulations to the Chess Club for a dominating win over MICDS, 27.5 to 2.5. Ladue has won the Western Conference Championship and will now play John Burroughs in the Gateway Chess League Finals.  Good luck and bring home the victory.
 
The Green Team will be meeting after school in the Greenhouse on Wednesday, March 13th to discuss the worm farm, rain garden, and other projects.
 
Are you good at Trivia? Do you have a good heart?  Benefit St. Louis' International Institute by participating in a Trivia Night hosted by German & French Honor Societies on Saturday, April 6 (5-7 p.m.) Tickets (individual or table) for sale during lunches starting March 26!

LHWHS Chess Team Beats MICDS 
 
The LHWHS chess team defeated MICDS 27.5 – 2.5  in the Gateway Chess High School 
League West Conference final on March 7th. Iris Zhou (9), Erik Tkachenko (10),  Ben Liu (9), 
Jason Pummer (11), and Katie Eisenman (10)  contributed to the victory.  
 
The team will play John Burroughs for the Gateway Chess High School League championship on Wednesday March 13th.  

 

LHWHS Science Bowl Team Heading to National Competition!

If you are a baseball/girls soccer/girls lacrosse/boys varsity tennis or track athlete (sprinter) that needs bus transportation to practice, follow the information below:
  • Track athletes (sprinters only) can take bus #20 to MICDS. After practice, the activity bus will pick up students at MICDS at 5:10 p.m. that need a ride home.
  • Bus #12 will take baseball/girls lacrosse/boys varsity tennis or girls soccer players to the West Campus for practice.
Both buses will be in the front of the school at dismissal. As a reminder, there is NOT a bus home from the West Campus after practice.
If you practice at LHWHS, you are able to take the 5:15 p.m. activity bus home after practice. Please give the driver your address when boarding. The bus will be at the Nielson Gym Lobby entrance.

Please be aware that we will practice Thursday 14th and then return to practice Wednesday March 20th in the afternoon. We Begin play Saturday March 23rd.

Junior Varsity will have optional practice Thursday March 14th and return to practice on Thursday March 21st.

The Ladue Education Foundation & Alumni Association (LEF) invites alumni, parents and the community to celebrate and support innovation in Ladue schools. This year, we highlight sports and physical education at our annual spring gala, “Innovation Celebration: Sports Edition.”


As medical research continues to demonstrate the importance of physical activity on both healthy growth and academic performance, the LEF is proud to shine a light on the excellent programs in the district.
