The ISSC Executive Committee calls upon ISSC members to vote for an extraordinary extension of its mandate

From 1 to 3 June 2016, the ISSC will consult its members through an online vote on extending the ExCo’s mandate, until October 2018 at the latest, in order to ensure continuity of leadership until the final implementation phase of the proposed merger process.

Voting will open on June 1st  2016 at 12:00 am (midnight) CEST and close on June 3rd at 23:59 CEST.

This follows a unanimous agreement by the executive bodies of ISSC and ICSU to propose to each council’s members that ICSU and ISSC should merge to form a new, single organization for the social and natural sciences. The vote on the extension of the mandate is not equal to a vote for the merger. The discussion and vote on the merger will take place during the joint general assembly of ISSC and ICSU, on 24-25 October 2016, in Oslo, Norway.
