Hello, new and existing readers alike!

Welcome. I’m so pleased you’re curious and open to this corner of the universe.

I knew it’d take a week to decompress from the bustle of Zine Fest but I did not anticipate two full weeks would slip by without notice or newsletter. But here we are, on a Friday morning instead of the usual Thursday late night.

Thank you to everyone who supported and came by my table at the Zine Fest! It was a humbling and totally awesome experience. I made two (!) new zines and absolutely loved seeing my necklaces out into the world.

xo, avw

THANK YOU!

I was so stoked to meet so many new people, and see so many friends. I appreciate your feedback, your encouragement, and your enthusiasm. There was a lot to learn from the preparations for and experience of tabling at my first zine fest!

It’s a tremendous energizer for new work. I made two entirely new zines (both which I'll turn into gifs and share here next week) and revamped the final birth Pregonate? story and printed it.

Seeing hundreds of people cruise by without a glance your way is humbling. It’s impossible to know what other people see or think. And even when you think you’ve got your bases covered there’s always another lesson to learn.

Life is iteration, no? I love that this idea--iteration, a word I learned in my past start-up life--is applied so well here. Take an idea, use it, tweak it, use it, tweak it to satisfaction or function.

The Between Two Ferns movie is available on Netflix today! I can't wait to watch it, maybe this weekend? It's a good time for a walk down memory lane (aka old Between Two Ferns.)

A word from Kim Shuck, San Francisco's poet laureate:

"Good art can come from a place of comfort."
