I'm April. Maybe you've met me, or maybe you happened through my studio doors and scrawled your info on my wall for future correspondence. Bold!

Shorty intro: I'm a watercolor and gouache-loving artist in San Francisco. My first career was marketing-esque start-up stuff but OH NO, no thank you. I took a watercolor class yada yada, I'm happiest painting, bathed in color. My first art biz was/is selling donut art, but I've since retired new paintings in that arena and am figuring out what's next. If you visited my open studios this weekend, you saw a bit of that. I like to to talk on paper. Which brings me to...

Welcome to my newsletter! Thanks for your attention. I'll try to be respectful and edit.

SF Open Studios Lessons Learned:

You like caftan ladies. You really, really like caftan ladies. You’re just looking for that special soul connection before you bring it home.

You love nice places to rest your eyes. (Those color-centric abstracts went fast!)

Everyone loves donuts. Even people who don’t like art like donut art.

Side note: It occurred to me that perhaps some of my far-afield subscribers might enjoy open studio painting prices ($40-50 plus shipping). Would you like to get in on the open studio art sale? ***I will only do this if I hear from a quorum of people!*** So respond to this email, “Yes!” or “Absolutely not!”

More Kickstarter witchery

If Cards Against Humanity married a tarot deck--back Tarot Moods, the tarot deck with a millennial sense of humor, on Kickstarter.

(Also if you considered backing The Living Altar oracle deck, they're almost to their deadline and still need support!)

Give good holiday

I just signed up for Compass Family Services Adopt-a-Family. Take it away, marketing copy:
Adopt-a-Family pairs individuals, families, civic groups, and corporate teams with Compass families who are homeless or at imminent risk and lack the resources to buy holiday gifts. For many families, these gifts will be the only gifts they will receive during the holidays.

As a stably-housed family in San Francisco, I think it's so important to support those out there who are having a tough time of it, especially during a challenging time of year. If you can, consider supporting Compass and join AAF.

SF Art Alert!

At Heron Art this weekend, come to the the 6-9pm opening party for Sanctuary and peep these gorgeous neutral textures.

"Sanctuary brings together the meditative and textural works of four female Bay Area artists: Zai Divecha, Nicole Sweeney, Anastasia Tumanova, and Alice Wiese."

Next week...

Open studios-fueled new art and works in progress...

An updated website with pretty things...

True crime podcast recommendations!
Feet on the ground, thanks in my heart.

If you know someone who would enjoy something on here, fwd it 2 them.
