I’m sitting here in The Stewjust finished eating a piece of pizza from Arizmendi Bakery and I feel so FED. Do you know what I’m talking about? So cared for, cared about. It’s an experience that is so much more than the food. I feel it all, the teamwork, and the conscious consideration that this worker-owned cooperative operates under. It’s about the community, the thoughtfulness, and the values I’m supporting by purchasing their slice, sticky bun, their slice of chocolate cake.

And I love it.

Do you have a spot like that where you are? A place that is both emotion, commerce, and care? I hope so. I’d love to hear about it. Drop me a note (just respond to this email.)

Wishing you a deliciously contented day.

Fancy People, privately.

Yes, I am chugging along on my 100 Days of Fancy People project. This past week it took a backseat to two previously-blocked projects. One is related to Fancy People but its private (for now?) This idea was seriously sitting around for 6+ months. Amazing how long it hung on for, patient with me. Thank you, zombie portrait!

The other unblocking realization was around my pregnancy zine follow-up about the first year of parenthood. I was not making any progress. Very frustrating! But I realized, "DUH, APRIL. Being a parent for a YEAR is a very different from and more difficult to distill than 3 months of pregnancy at a time was." Haha, so now that that’s out of the way, I’m adapting and have great progress and format towards my induction/birth story. Woo! When it’s done, ya’ll will be the first to know.

Getting unblocked is something to celebrate! Imma swimming duck with my feet pitterpattering under me, but cruising above water. New work to share next week.

Soundtrack to The Stew lately...
