Welcome to the Listening Hour

Hi, everyone!

Did you enjoy this change in the weekly email? We are aiming to be more concise and to shine a light on one aspect of the Listening Hour that might be helpful to hold in your awareness. Please give us your feedback on this new approach to the weekly mail out.

And we will still start with an explanation for anyone who's new to the Listening Hour!

What is the Listening Hour?

A free, weekly 1-hour connection and empathy space currently hosted by people who have experience in Nonviolent Communication (NVC), for anyone interested in NVC.

This is not a workshop but a peer listening space to encourage listening.

The Listening Hour is not suitable if you are going through significant emotional upheaval or for processing trauma. If you are, see the "Alternative Pathways for Support" section below.

More detailed information about the Listening Hour, including the format and what happens, here.

This week's focus - Community Standards

Last week we shared the Listening Hour Conflict and Grievance processs, which outline the processes we will lean into if there is conflict.

This week we want to draw your attention to the Community Standards document, which is the measurement by which we gauge if harm has happened. Not all conflicts are around things that get described as misconduct but some are. As hosts, we might need to make difficult calls in order to create the 'safer space' we aspire to.

That is why we have prepared our Community Standards and link them to our Conflict and Grievance procedure. If you have time, why not have a read? Like last week, we aren't saying you need to remember any of its details: rather, we hope that it will be reassuring for people to know that this process exists as one of the resources that supports the Listening Hour in its functioning.
