Mentor Award Recipients Announced

GEM Fellowships (UNM & NMSU - MS & PhD Minorities)
Goal: Increase the number of underrepresented minorities in science & engineering programs. Both fellowships cover full tuition and fees. 
Amount: PhD - at least $16k living stipend per year  MS - at least $16k stipend over entire MS program

Deadline: October 1

Details: To support high potential young women in S.T.E.A.M. who show financial need.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (Undergrad Seniors, MS & PhD students)
Goal: To provide three years of support for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant research achievements in STEM or STEM education. Women, members of underrepresented minority groups, persons with disabilities, veterans, and undergraduate seniors are strongly encouraged to apply.
Amount: 34k stipend and 12k education allowance each year for 3 years

American Association of University Women Fellowships (Women)

Dissertation Fellowships -  $20K
Postdoctoral Research Leave Fellowships - $30K 
Short-Term Research Publications Grants - $6K 
Selected Professions Fellowships - $5K - $18K 
Publication Grants in Engineering, Medicine & Science - $10K - $35K

DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research Awards (Ph.D. students)
Goal: Support supplemental awards to outstanding U.S. graduate students to conduct part of their thesis research at a DOE national laboratory/facility in collaboration with a DOE laboratory scientist for a period of 3-12 consecutive months. Amount: $3k living stipend while on-site and inbound/outbound travel cost reimbursement up to $2k.
Deadline: November 10   
NSF: Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace Frontiers (IHEs & non-profits)
Goal: To support potentially transformative center-scale projects in the area of cybersecurity and privacy. Amount/Duration: $5M - $10M total, up to 5 years.
Letter of Intent: September 7     
NSF: Industry-University Cooperative Research Centers Program (IUCRC) 
Goal: Catalyze breakthrough pre-competitive research by providing a structure for academic researchers to conduct fundamental, pre-competitive research of shared interest to industry and government organizations. Award Amount: Varies by phase. Planning Grant: $20K. Phase I: $150K per year. Phase II: $100K per year. Phase II+:$150K per year. Phase III: $50K per year. Eligibility: Institutions of Higher Education. PI must be tenured faculty.
Preliminary Proposal (Required): September 8     
NSF: CISE Research Initiation Initiative (CRII)
Goal: To support research independence among early-career academicians who specifically lack access to adequate organizational or other resources. Amount: $175K for a period of 24 months. FYI there have been significant eligibility revisions!

DoD: DEPSCoR - Research Collaboration
Goal: To create basic research collaborations between a pair of researchers and introduce potential applicants to the DoD’s unique research challenges and its supportive research ecosystem. Amount: $200K per year for three years.

White Paper (Required): September 20    
Constellation E2 Energy to Educate Grant (IHEs)
Goal: To support hands-on projects that engage more than 100 students and revolve around the following themes: Equity in Energy, Sustainability as a Lifestyle, A Sustainable World. Max award for universities is up to $50K. One entry per institution - check with yours before submitting a proposal. 
 
Deadline: October 1     
NSF INCLUDES (IHEs - only one proposal per organization!)
Goal: To improve collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing the preparation, increasing the participation, and ensuring the contributions of individuals from groups that have been historically underrepresented and underserved in the STEM enterprise.
Letter of Intent: October 4     
NSF: CC* DCL: Towards an Equitable National Cyber Infrastructure (PUIs & MSI)
Goal: To address disparities in campus-level networking and cyberinfrastructure that exacerbated the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in some areas of the country. <- Institutions in EPSCoR-eligible jurisdictions are especially encouraged to submit.
