Fully Funded PhD Opportunity at RIT  
Details: Rochester Institute of Technology is offering a fully funded PhD in energy sovereignty research topics, in collaboration with the Energy Sovereignty Institute. A bachelor’s degree is required and a master’s degree would be beneficial. Benefits: Full tuition coverage + a monthly stipend. Indigenous students are encouraged to apply.
   Application Deadline: January 15   
Society of Women Engineers Scholarships (Sophomores and above)
Details: Provides financial assistance to those who identify as a female/woman and are studying community college, undergrad, or graduate programs in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. Amount: Varies by scholarship.
 
   Application Period: Dec 1 - Feb 15   
Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HS seniors, undergrads, community college, graduate)
Goal: The HSF Scholarship is designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a university degree. Amount: $500 - $5k.
   Application Period: Jan 1 - Feb 15   
Cyber-Physical Systems Summer Intensive Research Internship (Undergrads)
Goal: To introduce students to cyber-physical systems (CPS), promote inclusive academic research environments in CPS, and more. More info to be released in the weeks to come.
   Application Period: Jan 1 - Feb 15   
DOE: Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (Grad students)
Details: The CSGF Fellowship lasts for up to 4 years. Benefits include payment of full tuition and required fees during appointment period; a yearly stipend of $38K; $1K annually for professional development; and a 12-week practicum experience at a DOE national lab or site.
 
   Application Deadline: January 13   
L'Oréal USA For Women in Science Fellowship (Post Docs)
Details: Provides five annual grants of $60K to female post-doctoral researchers engaged in basic research in the life and physical/material sciences, engineering, technology (includes computer science) and mathematics.
   Application Deadline: January 29   
Summer Undergrad Program in Engineering Research @ Berkeley (SUPERB)
Goal: SUPERB participants spend nine weeks at UC Berkeley during the summer working on research projects focused on Responsible Artificial Intelligence. Leading researchers in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science will mentor students on their proposed REU projects. Benefits: Stipend ($4.5K), room & board, and $ for travel expenses.
   Application Deadline: January 31    
Scholarships for Women Studying Info Security (SWSIS) (Undergrad & Masters)
Details: SWSIS is a partnership of Applied Computer Security Associates (ACSA) and CRA-WP. Its long-term goal is to contribute to increasing the representation of women in the information security workforce. Amount: $10k.
   Application Deadline: February 1   
ACS Scholars (Undergrads that are African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian)
Goal: To support underrepresented minority students majoring in undergraduate chemistry-related disciplines, and are also intending to pursue careers in chemistry-related fields.
Amount: Up to $5K per year.
   Application Deadline: March 1   
NSF: Mid-scale Research Infrastructure Big Idea Grants
Goal: To support the design or implementation of unique and compelling research infrastructure projects. Implementation Track: $6M up to $20M. Design Track: $600K - $20M. EPSCoR states are eligible and encouraged to apply.
Preliminary Proposal Deadline: January 7    
NSF: Improving Undergraduate STEM Education at HSIs 
Goal: To enhance the quality of undergraduate STEM education and to increase retention and graduation rates of undergraduate students pursuing degrees in STEM at HSIs. Amount/Duration: Track 1: Up to $400K for 2-year projects. Track 2: up to $1M for 3-5-year projects. Track 3: up to $3M for 5-year projects. Track 1 & 2 Deadline: January 13  
NSF: Addressing Systems Change Through Engineering Teams (ASCENT)
Goal: To stimulate collaborations among different ECCS sub-communities and to enable synergistic effort addressing large-scale cross-disciplinary problems whose solutions are beyond the scope of individual or divided efforts. Amount/Duration: $1M to $1.5M for a period of four years.
Preliminary Proposal Deadline: January 25    
USDA: Hispanic-Serving Institutions Education Grants Program (HSI)
Goal: To promote and strengthen the ability of Hispanic-Serving Institutions to carry out higher education programs in the food and agricultural sciences. Amount: $50K - $1M.
Application Deadline(s): January 26 - 28    
NSF: Broadening Participation in STEM Entrepreneurship and Innovation 
Goal: This call for proposals is a five program collaboration across NSF and invites proposals that would identify contextual factors and mitigation strategies to enhance participation and success of various populations in STEM entrepreneurship and innovation. 
Proposal Deadline: February 9   
NSF: Smart and Connected Communities (S&CC) Solicitations

S&CC Integrative Research Grants (SCC-IRG)
  • Track 1: Budget between $1.5M and $2.5M, w/ durations of up to 4 years.
  • Track 2: Budget up to $1,500,000, w/ durations of up to 3 years. 
S&CC Planning Grants (SCC-PG)
  • Budget up to $150K total for a period of one year.
S&CC Virtual Organization (SCC-VO)
  • Funding of up to $250K per year for up to 3 years may be requested.
Full Proposal Deadline: February 24   
NSF: Campus Cyberinfrastructure (CC) Program Solicitation
Goal: To invest in coordinated campus-level networking and cyberinfrastructure improvements, innovation, integration, and engineering for science applications and distributed research projects. Who can submit: (1) Institutions of Higher Education, or (2) Non-profit, non-academic organizations Amount: $200K - $1M
Proposal Deadline: March 1
