BCFR to honor 40 years of service at special event

invitation artworkIn 1976, the price of a gallon of gasoline was $.59, Apple Computer Company was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, and Boone County citizens voted to approve a special property tax levy to support people with developmental disabilities. This proposition provided funding to create the Boone County Group Homes Board. One year later, Parkade House was opened providing a place to live for eight women with developmental disabilities. Max Lewis Receives Award

Board member named a Mental Health Champion

BCFR Board Member, Max LewisCongratulations to BCFR Board Member, Max Lewis, who will be awarded the Missouri Mental Health Foundation‘s Mental Health Champion Award in June. The Award recognizes individuals living with a mental illness, developmental disability, or in recovery for substance abuse, who make a positive contribution to their community, exemplify commitment and vision, and whose actions have increased the potential for independence in others living with a mental health condition. Employee Spotlight: Marni Ardrey

Marni Ardrey, Support CoordinatorMeet Marni Ardrey, a Support Coordinator at Boone County Family Resources. Since 1990 she has held many roles at the agency such as Teacher Counselor and Site Supervisor in the Supported Living program. In 2001, she moved from Supported Living to Family & Community Living Support and began the role she has now as Support Coordinator for adults. Read more...

New Design for BCFR Website

New Website DesignIn mid-April, Boone County Family Resources' new website design went live. The new look is what is called a “responsive website design,” which means it automatically adjusts to be viewed appropriately in whatever device you are using to view it. “We’ve noticed that more and more users were viewing our website with their smart phones and tablets,” says Robyn Kaufman, Executive Director at BCFR. “This new responsive design will make our website more accessible for more people.” Read more...
