During the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Open Science became a priority on the agenda with the aim to open access to scientific publications and to allow the best possible re-use of research data. ENoLL has been nominated as a member of the Open Science Policy Platform (OSPP) and has been elected to be part of the three O’s strategy (Open Innovation, Open Science, Open to the world), including action lines of: Fair and Open Data; European Open Science Cloud; Almetrics;  new Business models for Scholarly communication; Rewards; Research Integrity; Open Science Skills and Citizen Science. Registation for OpenLivingLab Days 2017 opens this week

Living lab practitioners and all interested stakeholders are invited to join us for the 7th edition of the OpenLivingLab Days which will take place in Krakow and will be hosted by Krakow Technology Park. Early bird registration, with a reduced price for a ticket, will open this week along with the official website of the event. Follow our social media channels to stay informed about the latest updates. New ENoLL Members will be invited to join us in Krakow one day before the conference starts on 28 August, for a kickstarter session and an opportunity to network with ENoLL Council members. Call for Workshops

ENoLL members, stakeholders and Living Lab practitioners are invited to contribute and co-create the agenda of the conference by submitting a workshop proposal for one of the five workshop tracks: health, circular economy, policy, design and smart cities. Find more information on ENoLL website. 

Call for Papers

Researchers and Living lab practitioners have an opportunity to submit their paper on one of three tracks and present it during the Research Day. Accepted papers will be published in Conference Proceedings of OpenLivingLab Days 2017 with an ISBN number. Paper submission closes on 1 May. Social Evening announcement: Tour, Dinner and Awards ceremony

This year's biggest social event of the OpenLivingLab Days is now known! We will visit and dine at Poland's most valuable monument - the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine. The evening will commence with a tour of the mine and followed by a Social Dinner at which new ENoLL Members will be officially welcomed to the Living Lab community and award for the Best Living Lab project will be presented to its winners.

One week left to apply for the 11th wave of ENoLL Membership 
Worldwide Living Labs are invited to submit their interest for application for the 11th wave of ENoLL Membership until 7 April. Why should you join? To interact and collaborate with the international community of Living Lab experts and practitioners. Follow instructions of the application online and submit your application before the deadline! 
Interview with Living Lab Expert Samia Chelbi on Game Jams
In the anticipation of the JAM Today two-day closing event hosted on ENoLL premises, we have talked to Samia Chelbi – a Living Lab expert from Tunisia who has shared her 'Game Jam' hosting experience. Report on: Sofia Innovation Camp
ENoLL President and Association Manager were invited to join the Sofia Innovation Camp in Bulgaria and share their knowledge on creating innovative solutions facilitated by and through Living Labs. At the two day event they were presented with three city, national and global level challenges with the aim to create a model for citizens, firms, civil servants and researchers to define common challenges, co-create and experiment solutions and create a bottom up policy agenda as a legacy for the next presidency. Detailed materials will be available on the ENoLL Learning Lab.
Successful ending of the PELARS project with an exhibition

PELARS project in which ENoLL was a partner responsible for dissemination and connection between the Living Labs and the project for testing purposes, has successfully concluded after running for 3 years with an exhibition showcasing project development. The project has helped develop the field of multimodal learning analytics and produced tools, processes and furniture that integrates learning analytics tools. Scientific dissemination and exploitation of furniture and the TALKOO kit will continue. ENoLL Members working in the field of education and learning analytics can obtain research results upon request. The full pack will be shared on new ENoLL website's Learning Lab. 

FIWARE Open Day: from European programme to sustainable ecosystem
FIWARE Open Day event, organised on 7 March in Brussels, marked the end of an era, and at the same time the beginning of a new one. Future Internet Public-Private Partnership, a European programme behind FIWARE was closed at the end of 2016, but the sustainability and continuity of activities of FIWARE is secured by the FIWARE FoundationRead more about the event and watch the video of the journey of FIWARE from 2011 up until today, demonstrating the FIWARE path to a smarter connected world. Save the date for the 2nd FIWARE Summit in Utrecht, 29-31 May. 
Upcoming: Belgian Living Lab Day
During the Belgian Living Lab Day on 9 May in Brussels key players and relevant parties will be brought together for dynamic exchange and creative discussions on diverse themes that are related to living lab research, living lab best & worst practices and funding opportunities for living labs. Registration will be announced these days on ENoLL website 
News for Members

SELECT for Cities Initiative launched its call to support the development of an Internet-of-Everything platform for open innovation in Europe. Selected organisations will get contracts from EUR 36,000 up to EUR 800,000 each. The procurement is financed by three cities – Antwerp, Copenhagen and Helsinki - with support from the European Commission Horizon 2020 programme. The tender closes on 14 April. 

ENoLL at Smart City Word Congress, Casablanca 
On 17-18 May, the second edition of Smart City Expo Casablanca will take place under the motto “Cities by all” as a reference milestone to foster a sustainable and innovative urban management for the development of cities in Morocco and Africa. Juan Bertolin (espaitec Living Lab) will speak on behalf of ENoLL during the session titled "Entrepreneurship and Start-up Ecosystems" elaborating on the role of Living Labs in local ecosystems. Living Lab representatives from Gate 21 and i2cat will also speak at the event to share their experience.
Report from event: Bristol as a city-wide test bed for digital innovation and living

At the 'Creating a city-wide test bed for digital innovation' workshop hosted by the City of Bristol City Council and the University of Bristol in the capital of Europe, Association Manager of ENoLL has spoken about "Cities as Living Labs and Large Scale experimentations for Digital Innovation" and Bror Salmelin from OISPG about "Ecosystems and value constellations as innovation enablers". Launch of the Open Science Monitor

A new website for monitoring open science worldwide has been launched as part of ongoing work for the European Commission: the Open Science Monitor. It is a good source to access data, stakeholders and trends on open science. View the website here.

European Capital of Innovation award

European Commissioner Carlos Moedas has launched the third edition of the European Capital of Innovation award. The award was created to acknowledge the role of cities as places of systemic innovation, with a capacity to connect people and places, and public and private actors. Deadline for applications is 21 June 

Digital Dragons Conference 
Krakow Technology Park invites living lab practitioners to join the Digital Dragons conference in Krakow between 23-23 May. The sixth edition of the conference will see 90 speakers  discussing art, programming, business and game design. You will also be able to participate in matchmaking at the expo area. The event will be concluded with Digital Dragons Awards Gala. Early bird registration is already open 
City Entrepreneurs from Basaksehir Living Lab received NETAS Award for ‘’Notework’’ Project

Basaksehir Living-Lab’s innovation team “NoteWork” has won NETAŞ (Northern Telecom Turkey) Prize at the “İsteBU 9th Creative Enterprenuership Project Competition”. “Notework” is an application that enables managing Social Networks more efficiently using a simple single interface. The application is capable to (i) take notes, (ii) find the right people through its intelligent search engine and (iii) act as an umbrella of all your social network accounts. Gate 21 fights traffic noise with the project Silent City

World Health Organisation categorises traffic noise as the second worst environmental problem in the world right after air pollution. To combat it, a number of municipalities in the Køge Bay area of Denmark has led the way and along with Gate 21 launched the project Silent City. Silent City is set out to raise awareness and test and develop innovative solutions, that focus on mitigating traffic noise and promoting quality of life and human health. Blockchain on OpenLivingLab Days by La Fabrique du Futur

Since 2015 La Fabrique du Futur has explored how blockchain could be a useful technology for living labs and co-creation approaches. This subject will be investigated further in 2017. La Fabrique du Futur will present their work during the OpenLivingLab Days in Krakow. There will also be a second edition of their Blockchain event on 15 September in Paris. Self-tracking - enabling better knowledge of oneself 

With the democratisation of connected watches and all the applications that track our steps, our calories, our heart rate and even our sleep, we are witnessing the advent of self-tracking, as observed by mQoL. While a level of self tracking is already present to a certain extent in our everyday life, living lab practitioners from Switzerland have taken it a step further. Watch the video (in French) explaining what type of self tracking is measured and what are its benefits.

Thess-AHALL teaching co-creation for serious games with and for Parkinson’s Disease patients

Thess-AHALL was invited to give a series of lecture for students from the Board of European Students of Technology. The first lecture was about Introduction of Mobile Apps and the value of co-creation. The students visited the living lab, met the PD patients and had an opportunity to interview them about what they expect from serious games. The next day students designed and developed (through webFitForAll) serious games which were presented to the jury (the same PD patients).
KrackHack at Krakow Technology Park 

Can you imagine Krakow in 2030? Want to be part of it? Will it be the city you want to live in? These are questions asked to young people who participated in the first hackathon organised by the City of Krakow within the framework of the Krakow Development Strategy. Workshops, team work, competition, project presentations filled two creative days in Krakow Technology Park. Winner of the hackathon is KRKBot - a system that uses AI to facilitate the contact between an inhabitant and the administration.
