Here’s what else we’re up to for 2019:

Social Media Education & Campaigns program, which will continue to provide vital educational material geared toward the sickle cell disease and trait patient population, providing rich engagement and a sense of community online. This high quality content is now also provided in Spanish to cater to the Spanish speaking sickle cell populations on the Sickle Cell 101 Español social media pages and managed by warrior Ada Gonzalez.

Sickle Cell Plus, a bulletin and calendar for the sickle cell community! Members of the sickle cell community will always be in the know regarding sickle cell related happenings. This digital bulletin board/calendar is open for anyone in the community to submit events, which will be reposted on the Sickle Cell Plus pages.

The Sickle Cell Podcast, is another medium available to the sickle cell patient and caregiver population with engaging and essential sickle cell related material. This show covers a variety of topics and is hosted by patient and advocate Cassandra Trimnell and healthcare professional (PharmD, RPh) Dr. Stephen Boateng.

Ask Dr. Q Facebook Live, our very own Dr. Keith Quirolo answers sickle cell related questions from patients and caregivers on Sickle Cell 101’s Facebook page. This highly utilized program has become a staple resource for the online sickle cell community. Users submit questions through our website or via email.

Community Education, provides sickle cell education and counseling on the ground through mini educational seminars and events. Community members will also receive supplemental literature.

Multiple partnered projects with key sickle cell stakeholders. We cannot wait to share what else we have in store!

Here are some of our favorite testimonials:

“You all have provided me with so much information. I have learned more from your pages than any doctor’s visit. Continue to educate us warriors and others.”
-Ashley R.
“Most of my life I’ve felt alone when dealing with sickle cell. Most people in my life don’t have to deal with this. They don’t understand the toll it takes on you physically, emotionally, and mentally. Finding this page has helped me to not feel so alone anymore.” -Rachel D.
“You provide important information that is easy to understand.” -Kamilah R.
“I love this page and I love reading other stories in the comments! I get to connect with others with the disease. You guys are great!” -Arika A.
“It helps me realize that I’m not alone in my battle with SCD. To be honest, when I’m not feeling well, I peruse through SC101’s Instagram page to distract myself and find comfort.” -Meagan L.

We couldn’t continue to do what we do without the support of our amazing team #TeamSickleCell101 and a huge thank you to our 2019 sponsors!
