Get to know your SCI community - Jane Hutch

Jane had an accident back in 2009 and became a level T9 paraplegic.  Jane has an active role in peer support at Fiona Stanley. Her role involves providing support to patients, family and friends in the form of providing information and friendship. To Jane, the most rewarding part of peer support is to be able to seeing the transformation in people and being privy to it.

Apart from working in peer support, Jane enjoys travelling. One of her travel experiences since becoming a wheelchair user included going on an elephant ride during her Singapore and Thailand trip. She has also travelled to France and parts of Italy last year where she experienced different cultures and cuisines. According to Jane, travelling definitely gives her the "travel bug".

For relaxation, Jane does meditation, reading and enjoys socialising with good friends. Recently, Jane attended an Empower Golf WA event and had an enjoyable experience which included meeting new people, being out in the fresh air and getting to stand up!
