While my tenure has involved a range of challenges it has also been a very rewarding experience and clearly the most enjoyable aspect has been the regular opportunity to meet and work with a huge number of members who are committed to volunteering their time in support of our profession.

Visit the EmAGN exhibition at DesignBUILD

The Institute exhibition at this year’s DesignBUILD in Melbourne will feature works from 15 emerging architectural practices. The exhibition will present a group of built works that make the most of opportunities within a project to create inspired designs displaying ingenuity, economy, and durability.

The exhibition is located next to the Central Hub, on the show floor. Entry is free.

Building the future now. Sustainable architecture vs. globalization

Mario Cucinella - founder of Mario Cucinella Architects (MCA) and Green Building the Future, and Ken McBride - co-founder of innovarchi and Principal at Hassell, deliver two key-note presentations on the topic of sustainability and globalisation. Developed in response to the 2016 Sydney Biennale theme ‘The future is already here, it’s just not evenly distributed’ both speakers will explore how new ideas of environmental and social sustainability might shape a fairer future. Followed by a panel discussion with Tshering Lama O'Gorman, Australian Himalayan Foundation.
Organised by Istituto Italiano di Cultura in collaboration with the Biennale of Sydney.

BIM - Revit Modelling Course

Tafe Illawarra Wollongong is presenting a course introducing students to the Revit 3D software. The course covers three stages:
1) Introduction to Revit & 3D Modelling,
2) Advanced Modelling of Buildings and
3) Advanced Revit Skills for Indicative Energy and Cost Benefit Analysis, Quantity Take Offs.

The course meets the Commonwealth Government’s criteria for skill set subsidy and is consequently much cheaper than the price advertised.
Subsidised cost:
$1,289 for students not holding a prior qualification; and
$1,504 for students with a prior qualification.
