From the Chief Executive Officer

Work on the Institute’s new strategic plan is well underway. At the end of March, the Board, National Council and senior executive participated in a facilitated strategic planning session.

It was an inspiring discussion, drawing on the individual expertise of a broad range of people to holistically consider the needs of our diverse membership.  This successful workshop resulted in a draft framework for our three-year strategy, formulated around and expanded upon our three pillars.

Contract Administration Mechanisms, Glitches & Nightmares Seminar

An introduction to the mechanisms of Contract Administration (CA) under common lump sum building contracts for small to medium-sized projects. With particular emphasis on SW-2008, this session will also discuss the notable differences between the ABIC contract and AS2124/AS4000, including discussion regarding choice of contract.

The Marten Bequest program offers twelve emerging artists over six categories the chance to receive a scholarship valued at $50,000. The scholarship is open to emerging artists providing an opportunity to develop skills both locally and internationally. This year, the opportunity has extended to include architecture.

Performance-based design ABCB survey results

This year, the Australian Building Codes Board engaged architects in an engagement program to understand the opportunities and barriers associated with performance-based design. Acumen update

A recent note on Drinking fountains and water filling points has been prepared by the National Access Work Group as part of the Acumen Access design guide notes on Fit-out. The Fit-out design guides are provided to represent best practice on access.

Acumen is an included benefit for A+, Member level 1, Affiliate Level 1, Graduate and Student members.
