This week 1500 delegates and 27 guest speakers will descend on Melbourne for our 2015 National Architecture Conference – RISK.

I commend the creative directors Donald Bates, Hamish Lyon and Andrew Mackenzie for producing an outstanding program with a line-up of talented speakers from around the world.

 Venice Pavilion Opening  

Australian Pavilion in Venice:                  
Official opening

The Australian Pavilion in Venice officially opened last week just in time for the 2015 Art Biennale. The new 240.5 square metre pavilion was designed by Denton Corker Marshall and will also be the home of the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale.

Solidarity with Nepal

From the UIA President
In response to the 7.9 Richter earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday 25 April, the international architectural community has mobilised to bring aid and relief through requests for donations and rebuilding missions.

From Paul Pholeros (HealthHabitat)
Architect and Institute Life Fellow Paul Pholeros and his wife Sandra have worked for many years to improve the health and habitation for indigenous peoples in Nepal. Given the disaster Nepal has faced, they are coordinating rebuilding projects in the villages of Bahunepati and Melamchi and are asking for donations.
