From the Chief Executive Officer

Since taking over the Chief Executive Officer role in May this year, I have been overwhelmed by the camaraderie, talent and dedication displayed by members and staff. It has been a challenging few years for the Institute and the profession but I am optimistic that as we move forward together we can enact greater change for the benefit of architectural professionals and the broader public realm.

2017 Chapter Architecture Awards

The 2017 Awards are now open for online entries. Entry in the Australian Institute of Architects Architecture Awards Program is open to registered architects who are Institute members and must be submitted in the state or territory in which the project is located.

50th Griffin Lecture – Now Online

The 2016 Griffin Lecture was delivered at the National Press Club on the 10th November by Graham Jahn AM, LFRAIA, Director of City Planning, Development and Transport, City of Sydney.

The lecture, “Development, Dollars and Design: City Planning Today” discussed design incentivised development rights, where incentives are given to developers to achieve better designed buildings and better cities. Graham discussed how they do this in the City of Sydney and identified what the public benefits are and how value is calculated.

Over 100,000 visit The Pool in Venice

The Australian Institute of Architects is pleased to announce that The Pool, Australia’s exhibition at the 15th International Architecture Biennale which drew to a close on Sunday 27 November, has become Australia’s most visited exhibition on record with over 100,000 visitors since opening in May.
