Celebrating women's voices
Hello Everyone!
How are you? We hope you are all well and feeling that Spring is on its way.
It has been a wonderfully eventful few weeks for us all involved in Dreadnought, having been on the first two weeks of our Rebellious Sounds: The Orchard Roadshow.  We’ve visited Redruth, Bodmin and Teignmouth so far.  Sharing scratch performances of our new play The Orchard with audiences, and having really revealing creative conversations with them afterwards.
Some familiar faces supported us whilst we were in Cornwall: Sally Crooks, Rebecca Hulbert, Sally Smith and the women from WRSAC in Bodmin.  Thanks to you all.
There have been singing workshops led by Claire Ingleheart in Redruth at Miracle Theatre’s rehearsal space in Krowji, and at The Ice Factory in Teignmouth.  Associate Artists Catherine Cartwright and Nicci Wonnacott led a Manifesto workshop in Teignmouth and got us all thinking about slogans.
Mary Lidgate led with Josie Sutcliffe on a Speaking Out workshop in Teignmouth, and Natalie McGrath has been visiting a range of libraries hosting a drop-in space for the public to find out more about Dreadnought and Rebellious Sounds.  So a big thanks for Redruth, Bodmin and Teignmouth Library Staff and everyone who stopped to say hello.
Thanks to everyone who has joined and supported us along our way.  Audiences have stayed for creative conversations after each scratch performance and these have been rich, generous spaces.  We have learnt a great deal about the new script of The Orchard, which is changing week by week thanks to these discussions.
This week we are at Exeter Phoenix with scratch performances in the Black Box Studio on Thursday 19th & Friday 20th at 7.30pm.  It’s a small space so to avoid disappointment please book your tickets now!  There is a free Manifesto workshop at 10.30am in the Black Box Studio on Friday 20th until 12.30pm.
Next week, on 26th March, we are in Corsham, Wiltshire.
We are also part of Fawcett Devon’s Equality Day on 21st March at the Corn Exchange in Exeter. For details look here:    Polar explorer Ann Daniels is amongst their excellent speakers.  There is still time to sign up for this conference.
All best,
Natalie and Josie
