Autumn news
See our new BSL trailer for The Cause

Thank you to everyone who has seen our touring production, The Cause or visited the Listening Booth so far.

We're just about to start our autumn/winter tour of The Cause which opens at South Devon College tomorrow (19th September), and we'll be on ITV Westcountry news tomorrow talking about it.

We're delighted to be working with interpreter Catherine Hall for our first British Sign Language interpreted performances. As well as tomorrow's performance at South Devon College, there will be three other BSL interpreted performances: at Tacchi Morris in Taunton on 25th Sept, Dartington Live on 12th October and The Plough at Torrington on 6th November. Our full list of autumn/winter venues is at the end of this newsletter.

If you've already seen The Cause, please do recommend us by forwarding this newsletter, sharing on social media (links below) and telling your friends and colleagues.

Actors Remi Oriogun-Williams (Trumpet), Ruth Mitchell (Millicent Fawcett) and Michelle Ridings (Emmeline Pankhurst) in Studio 1 for rehearsals at Dartington Live.
"The Cause' gives you a deep insight into just how hard these protesters and activists worked, and shows how not everybody may fight the same battle in the same way. It successfully brings the audience into contact with these two historical figures, and helps us understand that these two women, as Trumpet says, have sacrificed 'more than we can ever know.' After watching 'The Cause', it is easier to understand the difference between the suffragist and the suffragette movements, and the different kinds of protests. It brings us in touch with the harder, less known side of the struggle for women's rights. It serves as a reminder that this struggle was, and still is a hard road."

Lena Muller - 15 years old. Lena reviewed the show as part of her work experience placement with Dreadnought South West.
The Listening Booth is currently at Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum in Dorchester until 28th September. We'll also be at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter for the WOW Festival on Saturday 13th October & Sunday 14th October.

You can see the full list of Listening Booth locations on our website.

We're really inspired by the amazing stories that have been collected so far. A massive thank you to all the story donors. We are still collecting, so if you haven't already shared your story about women and activism from across the South West region, our Rebellious Sounds Archive Coordinator Carmen Talbot would love to hear from you: carment.dreadnoughtsw@gmail.com
