Rebellious Sounds Archive
Rebellious Sounds Archive Listening Booth in Bristol

The Rebellious Sounds Archive Listening Booth is currently at M Shed in Bristol, and you can see it there until Sunday 8 July.
We will also be holding two listening parties on Sunday 8 July. Join us to hear a selection of the archive’s stories about women activists in the South West. What is contemporary activism, and what are women in the South West doing to change the(ir) world? How has the legacy of the women’s suffrage movement impacted on the actions women are able to take today in the region and beyond?

We’ll be playing a selection of the stories collected so far, which will include discussion of BAME activism, LGBTQ activism, violence against women and environmental activism.
Some recordings may contain strong language.
There will be two sessions at 10:30am and 2pm, each 45 mins long.
Rebellious Sounds Archive Listening Booth in Penzance
The Booth is at The Hypatia Trust Penzance from Sat 14 July to Fri 27 July. (Open 11-3pm from 14-20 July (excluding Sunday) and by appointment from 22-27 July.)

Exploring a rich heritage of women’s activism, this interactive exhibition features oral histories from contemporary women in the South West and continues to collect inspiring stories that connect women now to the women’s suffrage campaign 100 years ago. Come along and become a part of the story.
On Thu 19 and Fri 20 July, there will be oral history recording sessions in the mornings and free workshops on women and activism in the afternoons.
There are just a couple of spaces left to book an oral history recording session in the morning. The afternoon workshops are free drop-in sessions and include protest poster-making. Come along and tell us what activism means to you.
