2 June 2020
FROM THE PRESIDENT
Max Bourke reports:
Many of you will have taken advantage, as I did, of the partial opening of the Gardens. So rejoice in the message from Dr Judy West below.
The Council of Friends has also decided that with appropriate conditions now allowing, we will resume holding our Council meetings on 11 June.
Would all Special Interest Groups please note this. If there is anything they would like Council to consider, could I have it by 4 June, or at least a phone conversation on 0427 603 541.
We will be considering ways at this first meeting to begin resurrection of the events planned for the future (and the past) and ways they might be carried out, given we still have to restrict numbers and manage crowds.
I do urge all members of Friends to visit again as the staff have done some wonderful work in our absence!

Further updates on the Gardens progressive reopening
The Gardens reopening has been very successful and we would like to thank everyone for your understanding during this challenging time. It has been wonderful seeing many familiar faces, and some new ones too, slowly returning to the Gardens. For those of you who have returned you will have noticed the restrictions that have been put in place to encourage safe behaviour, including one-way paths, sanitation stations, and some areas are closed to comply with physical distancing requirements.
We are welcoming back our on-site businesses as they reopen in a staged approach.
Pollen has re-opened for breakfast and lunch from Saturday 30th May for small groups, serving a selection of favourite dishes from the menu. Takeaway is also available.
Pollen is permitted to have 20 guests inside the café at any given time. Bookings are therefore essential and are available as set times - 9:00am, 10:30am, 12:00pm and 1:30pm, allowing a one hour sitting time.
The VC and Bookshop will reopen from Tuesday 2 June, with restrictions on the number of people allowed in at any one time.
Jindii will reopen from 9 June with comprehensive hygiene measures in place.
The reopening of the on-site businesses is conditional that people continue to observe the current ACT Government COVID-19 health restrictions that remain in place. Unfortunately volunteer activities and events are still some way off resuming at this stage, but we will keep you updated as this eases.
Thank you for your cooperation and support to bring you this wonderful news!
