COVID UPDATE
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our COVID protocols. Although we have not had a known COVID case thus far, it is possible that we may have COVID cases at some point during the year. Our goal is to mitigate the spread. As the average case rate rises in Pierce County, it becomes even more important to stay vigilant to protect our ability to have in-person education. School leadership is tracking the average case rate in the greater Gig Harbor area and thankfully, it is still in the moderate zone classified by the WA State guidance document.  We will continue full in-person education and will keep analyzing this and other community factors.
DAILY HOME SCREENING REMINDER
It continues to be very important that we follow Health Department guidelines regarding our daily home screening for students.  Please make sure that you are filling out the Daily Home Screening every morning before 8:15 AM for your student(s). Starting next week, we will be sending students home if the screening has not been completed. We understand that a day can be missed, here and there. Even Mr. Roddy has forgotten a day, but if a pattern of not filling out the home screening is present, the student(s) will need to go home.  Please set this reminder for yourself.  Thank you for your efforts to make this happen.
"CAN DO" 2020
We are making a final push for our "CAN DO" food drive!  Please drop off canned goods (non-perishable food and hygiene items) before 9:00 AM on Monday morning, October 26th.  We are only 500 pounds shy of our 5,000-pound goal.  We "CAN DO" this!  The Sixth Grade Food Drive benefits the Key Peninsula Senior Center and Food Bank.  This is not a competition, but an opportunity to serve and contribute to local families. To show our appreciation to the class that contributes the most pounds, the sixth graders will invite that class to our annual Root Beer Float Party.
LCS UNIFORM EXCHANGE will be available in Navigator Hall until after school, on Monday, October 26th.  If you are in need of uniform pieces, please stop by and help yourself.
ATTENTION MIDDLE SCHOOL FAMILIES!

Join us for our annual

HIGH SCHOOL MEET & GREET

Tuesday, October 27th
7:00 - 8:30 PM in Navigator Hall

This is a great opportunity to explore different programs, gather information, and meet representatives from a variety of schools - even if you have already chosen a high school. If you attended last year, there may be new information the schools would like to share with you.

This event is open to you AND your middle school student...they may have questions for the representative that you wouldn't think about asking. These schools have dedicated their time and resources to be here FOR YOU...so if you attend, we would love to reward your student with a FREE CASUAL DRESS DAY on Monday, November 2nd!
The Scholastic Book Fair will be in Navigator Hall from October 26th - 30th.  Please visit Scholastic Book Fair for all the important details. Online shopping is available now through October 31st. Books will ship free to your home with a $25 purchase. Parents can sign their child up for an eWallet so that they do not have to carry cash. Please see the book fair home page on how to sign up. Due to social distancing guidelines, only 15 shoppers at a time will be allowed on the stage. If you come before or after your child’s conference, crowds should be light. Students are welcome to shop while parents conference. We will be raising funds to buy books for All God’s Children Schools in Liberia with our All For Books donations. For every dollar you donate, you are entered into a raffle for a chance to win a poster. Please contact Jill Geringer, our librarian, with any questions.

A Note for 7th & 8th Grade Parents*
We encourage parents and teachers to connect on a regular basis. Parent-Teacher Conferences are an excellent opportunity to connect with the teachers regarding your student's progress this quarter.  If your student is maintaining a 3.6 GPA/90% or above, conferences are optional.

If you are interested in joining us for After School Care, please remember to sign up in advance. There are options for one-day per week care, two-three days/week, and full-week care.
November After School Care
If your child(ren) has not been picked up by the time Driveline ends, they will be sent to After School Care. They will be put on our Late Pick-Up sign in, and a charge of $1.00 per minute will accrue. Additional details on our Late Pick-Up Policy can be found in the Parent-Student Handbook. We understand things may come up and you may find yourself in need of After School Care. In this case, please email Lisa Brooks  (copy your classroom teacher in the message) by 10:00 AM that morning to confirm space is available. If contact is not made to ASC by the 10:00 AM deadline and your child is brought to after school care, late pick-up fees will apply. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact ASC Manager, Lisa Brooks, or Kate Bare.
