HalloGreen run & farewell DLRR

We can now tell you more details about our HalloGreen run on Friday 31 October, meet outside the BP garage on the V7, near to the Suffolk Punch pub at 20:00 - and be afraid, be very, very afraid - you do need to wear your best HalloGreen costume, and you will need a head torch - the route we have planned is very dark (not suitable for children or bikes) and the bones of old club members haunt the woods!!

The run will be led by Portia with the help on Stuart and Michelle and the route is about 2.5 - 3 miles, so more with loop backs.

After the run - we those still on one piece! will head over to the Suffolk Punch pub for a drink or two to celebrate the last night of David Lloyd Redway Runners.

Name change events

With the club transforming itself from 'David Lloyd Redway Runners' to the new name of 'Redway Runners' on the 1 November, we have a few events to mark this milestone in the clubs short history

25 October - last Saturday as 'David Lloyd Redway Runners' lets wear our oldest club tee shirt for many that could be the free one, lime green to the MK parkrun

31 October - HalloGreen special run, meet at 20:00 at the BP garage on the V6 opposite the Suffulk Punch for a run, dress for halloGreen. Then afterwards we will be visiting the Suffolk Punch for a drink - see separate new story

1 November - New club at a new parkrun, so road trip to the new parkrun at Tring, info at;

8 November - Big green parkrun, wear your green tees, we will have cake afterwards in the café, if you are not doing parkrun as it is the same day as the 2nd race of the cross country season join us for the cake

Redway Runners London Marathon Coach

After great interest has been shown Redway Runners will be offering a coach service for the 2015 VLM.on Sunday 26 April.

The plan is to leave David Lloyd at 6am allowing plenty of time to drop our runners at the start then ferry supporters a little more central to make your own way around the course.
We will arrange pick up from the Wetherspoons pub in Leicester Square a short walk/hobble from the finish. "Moon under water" for 17:00.

To confirm your place on the coach you will need to make payment of £15 to the RR bank account Sort code 30-15-53 Account No 42390360 and Email James who is organising for the club at:
No refunds will be available but if needs be you may sell/exchange your place.

Squeaky Bone Relay – Sunday 2 November

We’ve managed to pull together an impressive 15 teams for the 2014 Squeaky Bone Relay on 2 November.  In keeping with the tone of the event (runners carry a squeaking bone dog toy as the baton) our team names have been given a canine theme this year.   The organisers take no responsibility for any insult or injury caused by team placements or team names.

The first named team member is the captain who is responsible for collecting the bone and the team’s race numbers on arriving at the registration area.   The rules of the race demand that you run in the order submitted to the organisers

If you are unable to take part please could you let Kevin Orchard know as soon as possible?  If you can’t take part it would be appreciated if you could find somebody to take your place.   We don’t have any reserves at the moment, but if there is anybody who did not enter that would like to be a reserve please let me know.

For more info and details of the teams see our club web site at;

Cross Country

Redway Runners took part for the first time in the Chiltern League Cross Country on Saturday 11 October in Cassiobury Park in Watford, the men finish the day after 1 meeting in 3rd position in Division 2. Having as many runners as possible at each race really counts so let's make sure there is even more green in Bedford on Saturday 8 November.

The ladies are in 7th in what looks a lot tighter division, all great running and great fun

Twelve Marathons, Twelve Months

Been asked to pass this on from Kate Johnson:

Twelve marathons, Twelve months, Two charities, £25,000 to be raised. One lead runner. Six Team Members.
I am part of Team Run 12, who have dedicated 2014 to raising £25,000 for Cancer Research UK and Breast Cancer Care by 31st December 2014.
So far the team have raised over £19,000 but time is running out. We only have 3 months left to raise the last £6000.00.
I am running the final Marathon with the team, 21st December Portsmouth Coastal Marathon, the last (and first marathon) that I did took 5 hours and 42 mins, so this is not something that comes easily to me.
I would be grateful of any donation no matter how small, to help get Team Run 12 to the magic £25,000.
Please feel free to forward this on to anyone who might be interested.
Thank you for your time,
Kate Johnson
