In this issue:

Taking your running one step further!!

At the DLRR committee meetings we have been looking at how we can deliver more for our runners and we have the successful framework with the beginners groups and followed this format for the pilot of 'Improving your 5K times' course currently underway.
Anyway we would like to do more like this in the club and have people in the club that will help other runners.
So we are looking to hopefully get some of our members to complete the Coaching in Running Fitness (CiRF) course (to do this you have to do the Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course first).
So would you like to be considered for one of these courses - if so drop us a mail (DLRR@RedwayRunners.com) giving us an idea of what you would deliver back to the club for the investment.
We have been looking at funding opportunities for this and think we may be able to get started fairly quickly with some funding aimed at getting female coaches trained.
We look forward to hearing from anyone interested in this

DLRR @ parkrun MK 4th birthday

In case anyone doubted that the DLRR know how to celebrate! You may not be able to play this on mobiles (only on computers) due to the song chosen, but it seemed appropriate:

Sunday run 26 January

The club Sunday run last week involved a few puddles on route - nothing you may not find on a race day, there is a short clip on Facebook at:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=684520088235575&notif_t=like
We asked for feedback on the run and from the many, this from Janet seemed a great example:

I'm amused that everyone who wasn't there thinks we were all mad (clearly!) but it's not like there was a choice!! You embraced the rain, puddles, freezing water, mud and just got on with it, or you moaned. Other than the occasional obscenity when our feet numbed for the 20th time having just defrosted I didn't hear anyone really complain. Not even the people who managed to take a unexpected swim. We may all be totally bonkers but there was definitely a sense of enjoyment and that came from being part of a fantastic group who overcame the little water obstacles together.

Club Trip Torremolinos

Tomorrow, Friday sees the start of the Spring club overseas trip to Southern Spain for the Torremolinos International Half Marathon on Sunday.
We have 15 traveling for the weekend back on Monday - we are flying into Malaga and traveling by train to a small town along the coast at Torreblanca.
Should be a good weekend of food drink and a bit of a run in the warmer weather - looking sunny for each day at the moment.
If you fancy coming on a future club trip have a look at this page we have three more lined up for 2014 in the UK and overseas
http://www.redwayrunners.com/#/club-trips/4562434470

The club runs are all covered with Michelle sorting the Friday run and they are probably heading down to Caldecotte Lake and back. Spencer is looking after the Sunday run.
There may be a delay in responses to mails, etc over the weekend.

MultiSports Meeting

We thought it would be a good idea to hold group meeting on Sunday 9th Feb upstairs at David Lloyd, from 3pm. This meeting will be open to all members of DLRR, who have, or would like to, take part in MultiSports events, such as triathlons, duathlons, aquathons etc. Its even for those who may just like to know what the MultiSports group does in case of future interest in these activities.

We will have the coaching staff involved with the group to give some information on what's available this year, plus news on local training facilities which are new to the club this year.

The coaches will also discuss kit required, technical information about races and equipment, and of course, training programmes. So come and join Nicole, Rich, Lu, Adam, Campbell, Robin, Martin and Gavin on the 9th Feb and find out what events you could take part in this year! Free entry - 3pm start

Sunday Run 23 Feb - Special

For the Sunday run on the 23 February, we are going to start - and finish - from the Body Limits Transition shop (Unit 3a, Erica Road, Stacey Bushes, Milton Keynes, MK12 6HS) at 9:00 It will be a 2 hour 10 minute run with coffee in the shop afterwards about 11:10 (they have a coffee shop!!)

Especially for us that day they are going to be offering 30% discount on all of current Autumn/Winter 2013 footwear. This will apply on the day bring along your DLRR membership cards.

They will of course have Spring/Summer 2014 footwear available, but this won’t be included in the 30% deal, but I’m sure we could offer 10% just for that day.

So even if you are not planning on running that day pop along.

Training Camp Italy

Would you like to train in the lovely sunny weather, beautiful scenery and fun atmosphere?  Then we can make your wants reality! We are organising a training camp in Italy, Rimini.  This is a great way to train hard, stay motivated and prepare for upcoming races.

Free Injury Assessment Clinic - Milton Keynes

Our friends at Body Limits Transition in Stacy Bushes are offering this service:
--
I am writing to you as we are holding a drop in Sports Injury Assessment Clinic on Saturday afternoons between 3 and 4pm.
These will be free 5 minute sessions with one of our highly qualified staff who will endeavor to diagnose and recommend treatment for the injury.
We feel this service could benefit you and your club greatly; a significant number of people with small injuries find they turn into long term problems that can seriously disrupt training if not treated. We don't want any athlete to take the risk of this happening. Therefore I would like to ask that you support us in spreading the word about our service and letting all of your members know about it. If you could also put up a link to our page about this, http://www.body-limits-transition.co.uk/injury-assessment-clinic, on your social media sites that would be greatly appreciated!

If you would like to add us on social media our detail are below:

Run MK Marathon for Charity

Had this through if you are interested get in touch with them direct:

I am writing to you to notify you that The Jennifer Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy has spaces for people to run the Milton Keynes Marathon on the 5th May 2014 to fundraise for us. We inform, support and empower families and individuals affected by all forms of Spinal Muscular Atrophy and raise awareness of the condition. We also fund and support the research community addressing the causes, treatment and management of SMA.

The Milton Keynes Marathon is a picturesque green Marathon with 4,500 acres of woodland, lakeside parks and landscaped areas within the city boundary, perfect for taking in the views as you’re running. I was hoping it would be possible for you to advertise this event to members of your club and pass this message on to any other parties you think may be interested in this event so we can continue our valuable work. If you have any more questions or would like further information about the event then please feel to contact me.

Many Thanks, Natalie Fleming

Paced Sunday Run

For the club run on Sunday 16 Feb we are doing something extra and different!!

It will be a paced run as well - we will meet at Caldecotte Lake (water depending) and then you will be able to do multiple laps in paced groups - great to try your marathon pace for the length of the run, ie 2 hours.

So does anyone want to offer to be the pacer in a group and choose your time (ie run at xx min miles) the paces filled are on the Sunday run page at:

http://www.redwayrunners.com/#/sunday-runs/4559721262

On the day for those that want to have a general run - we will also be running round the lake with loop backs for 2 hours (of course lots of high fives when we meet the pace groups)

You can of course just come and run for as long as you want to
