Step Up Sundays

We are always reviewing our running timetable to look at better ways of doing things and to make sure we have the correct number/type of runs for all

From Sunday 14th August we will be trialing a new 'step up' run on Sunday mornings at 9am, initially for a 6 week period to test demand

The run will be led by HELEN and it will be a 45 minute session running at an easier pace (11 min miles and above)

The run is aimed at anyone wanting to do the main Sunday club run but currently finds running until the hour drop out challenging.

More details will be coming out nearer the time but the schedule will be:

  • 14 Aug Willen Lake
  • 21 Aug Caldecotte
  • 28 Aug Furzton
  • 04 Set. Willen Lake
  • 11 Sep Caldecotte
  • 18 Sep Furzton

The normal club Sunday runs are still taking place at 9.00 each week all the details of those at:

Redway Runners Beginners group- Update

Been getting a number of questions about our next beginners groups, so thought would let you know where we are up to with our plans.

We have received the results from the survey that we undertook with beginners; we will let you have more information on these soon. We have taken the learning points and will be carrying that forward to make our next courses even better.

As we want to offer a few courses a number of our run leads have now completed the ‘Leadership in Running Fitness’ course so they can lead beginners groups for the club.

A while ago we put out a request to any workplaces that would like a beginners group, from that a number of companies have come forward and I am pleased to say we working with Mercedes and are launching a beginners group for their staff next week which Helen will be leading – with this you can help
  • if you work for Mercedes can you please help to promote the group
  • If you know anyone who works for Mercedes and wants to start running or return to running let them know
  • if you can support Helen with the group please let her know
Then in September we are working with another two companies to bring them workplace groups – more details on these later.

As well as these we will be having two more courses starting in September in the evenings and hopefully one for daytime's. We will be releasing details of these courses very soon.

So lots happening and more info to come.

With the MK parkrun cancelled on Saturday 9 July - excellent chance for us to have another Redway Runners road trip and we are going locally with the Rushmere parkrun

Two parkruns for Milton Keynes

As you may know the Linford Wood parkrun starts on the 16 July, which is great news for Milton Keynes and we will be fortunate to have two parkruns to chose from.

Anyway, been asked about doing a club trip to support it, however, with it being a first event on a new course the best way we can support it is to let them have a low key event and supporting parkrun at Willen, so Linford Wood can have a successful first week and then continue to grow week on week.

To encourage people to Willen parkrun we are helping by organising pacingon the 16 July - so I would encourage you to come to Willen and run, maybe get a PB with our pacers.

The other great way to help would be to volunteer at Linford Wood event, if you can help then go to;

parkrun Road Trip - Wycombe Rye

We had 10 made it over for the club road trip to Wycombe Rye parkrun last Saturday, Helen decided to take a closer look at the course and suffered a few cuts and bruises - well done for finishing - get better soon - hope you paused your watch when you fell!
Lovely location for a parkrun with an out and back of the park and a wooded section fairly flat but with a few tricky steps at the half way point.
We even made it into the parkrun report
Well done all who traveled

Remember another road trip on Saturday to Rushmere parkrun with MK parkrun cancelled

Qualified run leads

Please to say we have more run leads qualified at the weekend as the club funded Jen, Julie, Helen, Lucinda and Steve to attend the Leadership in Running Fitness course

Can you help?

Been asked to pass this on to see if anyone can help for the MK Parks Trust
Parks and Run helper
Our monthly run for all ages and abilities with a choice of routes from 2 to 10km is held on the first Sunday of each month and has been a regular in our events programme for several years.
This popular series of fun runs are organised by an established team of Parks Trust volunteers and they are looking for additional people to help lead one of their sessions each year.
If you enjoy running and want to get involved please contact Carla Boswell, 01908 233600,

Monday Evening runs are moving from 1 August

Our Monday night runs are very popular and, as many people will be aware, we have been experiencing some issues around parking and access to Livingstone Drive at peak periods which has affected both us and others.

To address this, we have been looking for a better home for the Monday night runs. We are really pleased to tell you that from August the evening runs will be starting from the new Decathlon shop in Rooksley (Patriot Drive, MK138PU). This offers free parking in the area, the Costa coffee nearby is open until 19:30.

The meeting point for signing in and announcements will be inside the store which will really help in the cold/dark/wet (Pretty much all year round then!)

Our run leads are busy at the moment scouting out the best routes - making sure we have safe and lit areas with a minimal number of road crossings. As soon as we have these finalised we will let you know

We will be keeping the current format of our Monday runs so to confirm that from the 1 August 2016 the following runs will start from the Decathlon store

At 18:00 we have:
  • Step Up - A 35 minute easy paced step up run

At 19.00 we have 3 runs:
  • Social Run - 4 mile loop back run with a nominated tail runner. Aimed at anyone running 10 minute miles and quicker
  • Club Run - 4 mile set route at your own pace with no loop backs. Suitable for all but people will need to know the route
  • Step Up Run – 3 mile loop back run at an easier pace. Aimed at anyone running 10 minute and 30 second miles and over
