Well done to everyone from DLRR for Bank Holiday Monday's event in Milton Keynes whatever you did if you were involved in the day.
Think DLRR showed themselves at what we do best.
With two runners in the top 5 in the marathon to runners right through the field and in all events, with 132 running. Many doing the first half or full race to having completed 100 marathons!
Then the helpers - DLRR were everywhere and anywhere, many behind the scenes working to help runners in so many different ways - without you then MK would not have a flagship fun event in now definitely has.

One of our club members is after some help, and be great if we can help out, can you or you company help or do you know anyone who could.

I don't know if you will be able to help me, I am trying to find some sponsorship in order to purchase a set of Athletics Vests for my school. We are really trying to push Cross Country, Running and Athletics in general at the moment and are hoping this will raise the profile of our students, as we already have several who compete at the English schools.

We have updated the Sunday run page with future club Sunday runs (a few gaps to be filled and waiting on one item so some bits may change so keep checking the page)

Sunday run - 11 May

This Sunday's run is a special run - it is the Medal party and picnic - it all starts at 9.00 from the pub at Caldecotte Lake with a 'fun' 1 hour 30 minute run.
Then bring some items for a picnic afterwards on the lake.
Also bring along your medals - last 2 years this has been a lovely morning run and great fun.

Furzton relay - help needed

We are holding our club event the 'Furzton Fun Relay' on Sunday the 20 July afternoon - to make this successful and show DLRR at our best we need plenty of help on the day - if you can help then please contact Sarah Lambert or mail me and will pass on you details

April 2014 by numbers and highlights

During April (March in brackets) on the runs, i.e. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Fridays, Sundays and Beginners groups, we had 40 (37) runs, we completed 1,310 (1,392) runs between us with a maximum of 151 (103) runners on a run and completed roughly 7,501 (8,299) miles between us (bet you have to read that twice to follow - or have already given up!).

parkrun Saturday 17 May

On Saturday 17 May we have two parkrun opportunities:

Firstly we have our evening beginners group with Glenn doing the graduation parkrun at MK - we need quite a few buddies - can you help!!! If you can please message Glenn (or me and I will pass on) - let's make it a fun DLRR parkrun for them.

Also on the 17th May is the first Buckingham parkrun - so know a group are heading over to add a bit of green

Tring Running club Invitation Evening

We have been invited to Tring Running club invitation run, see below:

Once again it gives me great pleasure to invite you and your Club Members to join us for the annual Tring Running Club Invitation Evening, which this year will be held on Wednesday 14th May 2014, commencing at 7.30pm.
As in past years, there will be a number of runs of varying distances and speeds, to suit all standards of runners, including a shorter beginners run.  The runs will start from Tring Park Cricket Club (opposite Tesco’s in Tring), where there are separate men’s and women’s changing rooms with shower facilities available.
Following the predominantly off-road running in the Chiltern Hills, through the surrounding woodland and countryside, there will be food and drinks available in the Clubhouse bar area for a nominal charge.
I do hope you, and as many of your Members as possible, will be able to attend and would be particularly grateful if you would give me a rough idea of the number of your Members planning to come, as soon as possible, so that I can make the appropriate catering arrangements.

MultiSports cycling

British Cycling Women and Girls Sessions. Wednesday evening ladies cycle coaching sessions at the Bowl, organised in conjunction with British Cycling.

There will be a number of coaches on hand to work with all levels.

If you want to give road cycling a try for the first time and would like to borrow a bike, contact Catherine.

For more experienced riders the sessions will look at group riding and progress to skills involved with road racing.

Sessions are planned to finish with a time trial/road race each week.

Down & Dirty with Body Limits

If you’re entering any adventure or obstacle races this year then you need to get down and dirty at Body Limits Transition!
We will help prep your body for any adventure events you are taking on this year … whether you are completing them for charity, as a company outing or just because you are plain crazy?!

We don’t want your body to hit extreme shock during the course, so why not let us treat you to some intense training as a practice run to get your body ready?!

In this session you will also receive useful tips on:
What to wear
Best Nutrition
Strength and conditioning
Stretching and injury prevention

So if you are interested then please call 01908 321935 to reserve a space.

There will also be a free injury talk following on from this session at 1.30pm, this will be very helpful and informative to anyone who suffers with regular injuries or is currently injured.

NSPCC MK Half - DLRR Special Offer

We have been offered a discount for the NSPCC half marathon on Sunday 6 July of 15% of entry price, this code starts on the 2 April and is for on-line entries.

We have some lovely new friends over at FQ Events and I have managed to sort DLRR paid members a race discount on there events. To take advantage you need to be a paid up DLRR member and enter David Lloyd Redway Runners' as your club name. Tour of MK - DLRR Offer

The Brian Graves 32nd, Tour of Milton Keynes takes place Sunday 31st August to Friday 5th September with a race in or around  the MK area each day
Complete all 6 days and you earn the exclusive tee shirt. A number of us took part last year and had great fun, well this year MMKAC have offered a discount to paid DLRR members (so make sure you have renewed/joined) of 15% for entries by the 31 July 2014

Membership Renewals

Membership this year is still only £5 for the year to 31 March 2015, this year includes the MultiSports membership..

To renew complete the form on the joining page and return it, all the details are on the form.

You can add UKA as part of your membership - this is an additional £10, the fee we have to pay UKA - details of what UKA includes can be found from the link on the page above

New For 2014 - 2015 membership

One of the main advantages of MultiSports now being included for all members is you can take advantage of reduced rates for member clubs for Tri England - to do this details and links on this page:

The club are hoping to be a part of the Chiltern Cross Country league from September - this means your entry to the races in this series are free to all paid members of the club.

Normal Running Timetable

RUNNING CLUB - all standards - 3 or 4 miles, or the Step up group which does 2.7 miles at a gentle pace. Meet near the barrier entrance at 19.00 or if you are new at 18.50.
6 to 8 miles, approximately 9 minute/mile pace, meet reception 11.00 for a 60-75 minute run.
RUNNING CLUB - all standards - meet at 9.30 prompt in reception for a max 1 hour run (we mix up runs with Interval sessions or hills or a handicap run).
Evening run or session work (hills, intervals or the handicap run) meet near the barriers at 19.00
10 miles, 9 minute/mile pace or faster, meet reception 9.30.
parkrun *, 5k meet at the mini bowl at Willen Lake 9.00 - all standards - free event - should register before attending and bring the barcode, you can register your club as 'David Lloyd Redway Runners' even if you have not joined as it is a free event.
Longer training runs, meet at 9.00 check the web site under 'Train' and ‘Sunday runs’ for details.

Please remember to do your warm up and cool downs before and after the run.
