New Lunchtime run

Pleased to let you know we are launching in association with the 'Canal & River Trust' a new free club Lunchtime Canal run, it starts on the the 8 September and will be at 12:15 on Thursdays meeting at the car park beside the canal in Campbell Park (Postcode MK9 4AD)

This will be a run of up to 45 minutes suitable for all. It is being organised for the club by Doug and he will lead the runs with Maurice and Jim

So if you know people who want to run in the lunchtime do let them know about it and good to see Redway Runners coming along

The Canal & River Trust are going to be promoting this run in the local area and with publicity. We have some of of the posters below if you can either display one or put them on display please see Martin for a supply.

Off Road with Redway Runners

We are looking to cover more opportunities in the club for Off Road running. We are aiming to provide a monthly list of 'off Road opportunities' in the club.

Steph Dutton has offered to co-ordinate this and we hope that we will have a list of activities to publish around the 20th of the month covering the following month.

We will aim to include runs as well as races and off road parkrun trips, all ideal with the Cross Country league coming up

To do the planning we have set up a Facebook group 'Redway Runners planning for off Road' if you are happy to lead runs then please let Steph know (or reply to this mail and we will add you to the group)

NSPCC MK Half Marathon/10K - 25 September

We had been getting some reports that the discount code for the NSPCC Half Marathon and 10K on the 25 September was not working, we have had it checked and it is working again - we had gone over the club limit - they now have us as a 'Super' club.
The club discount is for Redway Runners members only and you get a 15% discount, the code is in the weekly mail

Beat the Barge 2016

What a fantastic day 'beating the barge' in glorious sunshine for the second year least it was glorious for those of us watching and maybe a tad warm for running!

We had a fantastic, full compliment, of 100 runners take on the 5 mile route from Linford Manor with some excellent performances but more importantly a great deal of fun

Ben Fairhall was first home in a course record time of 26:43 with Jen Sangster taking home the ladies trophy.
Full results will appear on the club website over the weekend and will also be sent out on email to all runners.

Thanks again to our event sponsors, BUCKS STAR and INSPIRING HEALTH SOLUTIONS and also to the brilliant team of directors and volunteers who made the day possible

We will be sending a survey monkey round for feedback - please do take 5 minutes to complete it to let us know how you found it and who knows, we may be back next year!

Results available at:

Beat the Barge Goody Bags - Thanks

Could we bring your attention and thank all the people who donated items for your goody bags at Beat the Barge on Saturday

Rudi at the Treatment lab who donated the fantastic cold pack

High 5 who donated the rehydration tablets

Andy Hully MK Marathon director who donated the water and gels

Bravery boxes for the wristbands

Their support is very much appreciated.

If anyone wants to provide something for next year please contact us, we would love to hear from you.

Bravery Boxes

Before the Beat the Barge race we presented last year's club Charity of the Year, Bravery Boxes the cheque for the amount that the club raised of over £4,400.

Christine from the charity gratefully received the cheque from the club and confirmed that as a direct result of the money the club has raised they will be putting the Bravery Boxes into two more hospitals.

Fantastic work from everyone at Redway Runners and great that we are directly improving other people's lives.

Footy is coming!

Creaking of aged bones can be heard. Men well past their sell by date are trying to recapture past glories. Old boots are being dusted down with rigour. The smell of sweat and massage potions linger….no we are not talking about a Redway Runners Boys weekend to a nightclub, but rather the inaugural Redway Runners Football Club charity match versus the Merchant Bankers of Santander.
In a few weeks a crack squad will undergo an intensive training camp, working out set pieces and how not to pull a ‘hammy’ after two minutes, before retiring to the pub in preparation for the big event which takes place on Sunday 4 September at 1.30pm   So please, Green Army members, we would love for you to make your way to the Recreation Ground, Castlethorpe Road, Hanslope, Milton Keynes, MK19 7HQ in full club colours and clear throats to witness this magnificent and unprecedented occasion. All monies collected from the raffle on the day will go to the clubs Charity of the Year and food will be provided in the Cock Pub in the centre of the village post game.
Who needs the prima donnas of the Premier League when you have some old kickers from MK!!!
