Come along it will be fun

We need your help!

As a club we are getting bigger and some of our runs are getting big numbers - anyway we are looking for people who could help with some of the runs - the runs we are especially looking for help are:

Thursday evenings with the social run, to lead or help lead the 4 mile social run that is managed with loop backs on the same route each week

Sunday club run - traditionally from January we have large numbers of new runners joining us, therefore we need a few extra people who could support the run lead.

The types of skills do you need to do this; be able to spot problems and resolve them, help runners as needed, polite, friendly, good with quick communications and consider other people. This will mean that when helping, it is not your run, but you get satisfaction from helping others.

If you can help us let us know - you can mail; us on rr@redwayrunners.com

parkrun - Beginners

We had our beginners group at parkrun MK on Saturday, afterwards run leader Glenn said;

'
This morning was brilliant! Great to see so many green tees out on show. I was especially proud of the beginners, many of whom struggled to run for 1 minute only 10 weeks ago. The progress has been amazing to see and be a part of. They've put a lot of hard work in over the past couple of months and it really showed today. They've also become a 'team' in their own right and it was fantastic to see them all wait for our last runner home and cheer her in.'

For this run so many  highlights:

* The fantastic sight of seeing Glenn's & Hannah's beginner group doing their first parkrun - well done all (picture above)

* The big green photo at the start - looked like a 8.50 would only be about a dozen of us - then the invasion started (at top)

* Cake for the club name change went down well - then cakes/biscuits appeared from all directions including a fab cake for Ian's 50 parkrun.

* We had received a request from a young parkrun tourist visiting MK parkrun from Devon, who was doing his 50th parkrun and wanted to get a new PB - Maurice volunteered his pacing duties and at the end we had a pleased lad and family with him knocking about one minute off his PB.

Anyway 455 finishers today and we had 121 from the club finish - that is over 26% of the runners!!

We had first home and first lady with; Ben FAIRHALL and Linsey RYALL with Sinead BRADBEER 2nd lady home

Some photos from the Graduation parkrun are on the club Flickr site at:

Bedford Cross Country race event 2

It was race 2 of the Chiltern League cross country season last week at Bedford - ladies team manager Vanessa said:

'Well that was one of the best cross country runs I've done. 2 loops with lots of support. 5 ladies only today, where were you all? You missed the little trot through the water!! We had it easy, the poor men had to do 3 laps and 2 in the pouring rain. Then the gazebo died!
Thank you all for all your helping sort the poor gazebo out!!'

Well done all that took part - all the results at:
http://www.chilternccl.co.uk/results.htm
