Tracks back

Wednesday 28 January marks the clubs first track session of the year. It will be looked after by Spencer and Portia and the plan is early season progressive 800's along with some basic running drills - perfect for sprinkling a little speed and discipline back into your running...

This session is suitable for ALL abilities as you get to run at your own pace and it is ideal for all you budding marathoners out there... It would be great to see some new faces at the track this year and some faces that haven't been for a while... Come along and give it a go, you will not regret it.

We will be meeting at Stantonbury track at 6.45pm for the warm up and the cost is £1 for members and £3 for non members

Les Irvine Memorial Relay 2015 (OU Relay)

We have got the date for the 2015 OU Relay (this normally starts at 12.30 and each person in the team of four runs1.1 miles) we usually get a big turnout from the club and last year 64 teams took part - it will be held on Wednesday 29 April.
 
We will start to get names for Redway Runners teams soon.  The course, rules and regulations will be the same as last year.
 

New Daytime Beginners group started

Daytime Beginners Running Group. 26 new runners joined our 10 week course on Monday. We started week one with running technique drills. Light jogging and mini sprints, lots of laughter and fun for all. Well Done everyone, next week 10am David Lloyd reception.

parkrun MK 5th Birthday

At last Saturdays parkrun we had a pacing team out in cold and icy conditions, also Paul and Lucy picked up awards for winning the points tables for men and ladies

We now have a page dedicated to training plans on the club website covering 5k, 10k, half marathon and marathon distances. If you can recommend a plan that you've followed before or know of any good ones that you would like to be added, please email rr@redwayrunners.com (Jamie)

MK Marathon/half prices

Prices for the MK Marathon / half increase on the 31 January so if you are thinking of enering may be a good time to get it done and save some money as well - remember for members we have a 15% discount code in the weekly mail as well.

Redway Runners at Bistro Live

We have had confirmation of our booking for the Redway Runners social at Bistro Live on the 6 February - we thought we would share the menu with you.
If you did not book on the offer the club had - it may not be too late to come but you will have to pay the normal price and contact Bistro Live direct to book

Santa Pola Half Marathon

Whilst some of us suffered a cold Sunday run in Milton Keynes we had a group of Redway Runners out in Spain doing the Santa Pola Half Marathon - think they enjoyed the sun, the run and the beer.
 

Eating Disorders workshop

Been asked to pass this on, which may be of interest:
---
I will be holding a workshop in Northampton on Wednesday 25th February for athletes, parents and coaches about eating disorders and it’s prevalence in sport.

The workshop will be about recognising the early warning signs of disordered eating and disordered thoughts about food. Therefore it will be relevant to all young athletes (not necessarily just those that you think have a problem.)

It will be an interactive workshop with some quiz and reflection time (to help athletes recognise whether they have potential for a problem) some brainstorming, some lecture and information for coaches on what to do if they think an athlete has a problem. There will be full opportunity to ask questions throughout the evening.

I will be dispelling the myths and facts of what it means to be a healthy athlete and impart a fair amount of nutritional advise to help athletes understand how the body is correctly fuelled for optimal performance.

I have attached some information on a poster for you.

If any of your team decide to attend, I am happy to take suggestions of information that the audience would like included in the evening.

Wymondham 20

I would be grateful if you could display and distribute to your members our race poster for the Wymondham Ac Spring 20 Mile road race. The 20 Miler is used by many runners to gauge their fitness or simply get in a long run with others in preparation for a spring marathon.

We sold out 325 entries last year and would love to beat that total this year with your support.

Car Parking

We have checked with David Lloyd and during January the car park outside Gulliver's Land will be acting as a overflow car park for David Lloyd - this is also available to our runners as well - it should be open the same times as David Lloyd is open

So great free parking for our Monday and Thursday night runs. Please remember if you are not a David Lloyd member you should not be parking in there car park

Marathon Clinic

Great turnout with 42 for our first Marathon clinic for 2015 our  next clinic is on the 11 February - do get booked as it looks like it may be a sell out with GB Coach Nick Andrews.

Results are posted on the results page on our web page (that is if you have sent a link to the results to Nigel)

The latest club parkrun results are at: parkrun.com/results/consolidatedclub/?clubNum=18005. If you ran and are not listed then please, from a parkrun mail (results or newsletter), click the ‘manage my profile’ and you can then update your club to ‘Redway Runners’

Normal Running Timetable

Monday
RUNNING CLUB - all standards - 'Social run' 4 miles, with loop back for those who run 10 minute miles and quicker, 'Step up group' which does 2.7 miles at a gentle pace and the 'Club run' which does a 4 mile run with no loop backs, so you need to know the route. Each run has a tail runner.
Meet near the barrier entrance at 19.00 or if you are new at 18.50.
 
Tuesday
6 to 8 miles, approximately 9 minute/mile pace, meet reception 10.00 for a 60-75 minute run.
 
Wednesday
RUNNING CLUB - all standards - meet at 9.30 prompt in at David Lloyd reception for a max 1 hour run (we mix up runs with Interval sessions or hills or a handicap run).
 
Thursday
Evening run or session work (hills, intervals or the handicap run) meet near the barriers at 19.00
 
Friday
10 miles, at under 9 minute/mile pace, meet reception 9.30.
 
Saturday
parkrun *, 5k meet at the mini bowl at Willen Lake 9.00 - all standards - free event - should register before attending and bring the barcode, you can register your club as 'Redway Runners' even if you have not joined as it is a free event.
 
Sunday
Longer training runs, meet at 9.00 check the web site under 'Train' and ‘Sunday runs’ for details.

 
 
NON DAVID LLOYD MEMBERS MUST NOT PARK IN THE DAVID LLOYD CAR PARK
 
Please remember to do your warm up and cool downs before and after the run.
