Can you help a club member

Had a request from one of the teachers in the club - can you help if you can please get in touch - reply to this mail
We have a very able and conscientious student who wishes to gain some experience with an accountancy firm or in an accounts department.

Can you help with research

Had the mail below asking for your help with research - sounds genuine but do take usual care as can not vouch for the request
Dear Martin,
I’m writing from the Sociology Department at the University of Warwick, where I am a PhD student working on a project researching amateur running. My colleagues and I are trying to build a picture of the different reasons people take up running, the role it plays in their lives, and how this varies across different social groups, genders, age groups and other variables. We’re especially interested in finding out why some groups are less represented in the sport than others, and hopefully providing some ideas for how our wonderful sport could be further opened up to these groups.
A really important part of the study is a survey of British runners of all kinds – from Sunday joggers to serious athletes. We’re currently trying to reach out to as many runners as possible to get their responses, and (as you may have guessed) that’s why I’m getting in touch!
Running clubs like yours are a key part of the running community in the UK, so we’re keen to hear from your members. It would be hugely appreciated if there was any way you could pass on the link to our online survey to them, whether by email, via a club Twitter or Facebook page – or any other means. It only takes about 5 minutes to complete and is anonymous, although participants can choose to leave an email address if they want to receive a copy of the findings once the data has been analysed.
I’m sure you get a lot of requests for help like this, and I appreciate you may not be able to help everyone who asks. However, as a completely non-commercial and student-funded project (with the pitiful resources that implies!) we are completely reliant on the generosity of the running community to reach our audience, so we will be hugely thankful for any help you can offer.
The link to the survey is here:
If you have any questions about this please let me know either by email or by calling me on 07766555006. If you want to confirm the relationship of this survey (and me) to the University of Warwick please contact my PhD supervisor, Professor Nickie Charles on
Yours sincerely,
Neil Baxter
