DLRR Charity of the year 2013/2014

Last year to the 31 March 2014 the DLRR 'charity of the year' was Willen Hospice, the money you raised was, £2,335.70 this has now been paid to them, and with the help from Jen this is being matched by Santander, so the total amount raised by the club for Willen is £4,671.40, this was raised by a number of activities in the club including the profits from last years Furzton Relay, the clubs Christmas raffle and the help we gave to Abi's fund raising from her challenge with the Marathon des Sables.

The money raised for Abi was split between Willen and the National Deaf Society, and the club has also paid a donation to them for £888.03, we are hoping this amount will be doubled as well to £1,776.06.

So the total raised by DLRR for charity last year was an incredible £6,447.46 - WELL DONE ALL INVOLVED.

For the club run on Wednesday morning on 25 June we will be running via Willen Hospice to get a couple of photos for publicity of us presenting a cheque - if you are running with us that day, please wear green tees for the picture

DLRR Golf day 2

The 2nd DLRR golf day took place last Saturday at Tilsworth golf club and it turned out to be a closely fought event this time around with Derek Smith just pipping Steve Willett to the title on count back........ Congratulations Derek on a well deserved victory. In hindsight, perhaps we shouldn't have been so generous on the first tee but at least we all had a laugh about it anyway!
Home favourite Lee GB managed to spare his blushes by scooping both the nearest the pin and longest drive prizes while Steve Russell seemed more than happy walking away with the DLRR mug consolation prize
Thanks to Lee for making the arrangements and to the BBC weather team for (thankfully) being their usual inaccurate selves.

If you are interested in future days please let Jonathan Clements know (or via me)
