Sunday Run 15 June - Special

You know how we always have great Sunday runs - well 15 June is going to be extra special and a little bit different!!

We will be running from Silverstone Woodlands at 9.00 (MK18 5LJ. We can park up on their drive) this is private property and we have permission to run on the land. Not only this but it is the location for the RockSolid event on 20 September, we will mainly be following the route of the event - but without most of the obstacles.

So be prepared for a different run with a lot of fun. Ashley from RockSolid will be joining us for the day as well so can tell us all about  the event.

The run will as always be with loop backs and last about 1 hour 30 minutes

More on RockSolid event at:

Good Luck

Good luck to Chris and Michelle from everyone at DLRR for the wedding on Saturday.

Track is Free

The club has agreed that the track sessions held on the last Wednesday of the month (usually 10 per year), will be free to members (the club is paying the track fees) - so another benefit of membership to DLRR.

Non paid DLRR members are still welcome and cost is £2 per session

So if you have never tried our track evenings, give them a go - next one 25 June at 18:45 Stantonbury Track

DLRR on UK tour - Liverpool

A great weekend away with DLRR at Liverpool saw a lot of fun and even some running as well.
Many arrived on the Friday and that meant a visit to China town for a evening meal and a few drinks
Saturday morning and it had to be a trip to the Prince Park parkrun, in honour of Chris and Michelle's impending wedding we dressed suitably for the occasion - will not mention playing on the roundabout in the park!
Sunday and it was race day and an early start for the half and marathon runners, seems everyone did great times and a really enjoyable event with beer afterwards and a concert from 'The Christians' and 'The Farm' added to the party atmosphere.
Sunday night we all partied firstly with a Indian meal then hit a few bars around the Cavern Quarter.
Monday meant many of us returning after a great weekend

DLRR Top alterations

Sharon from the club is able to alter DLRR tops, perfect if you want a vest or tee a little bit smaller.

For Sharon to do an alteration she will need to know how much needs to be taken in from each side. The minimum to make it worth it is 2cm each side. The vest shown is a small. Sharon has taken 2cm out of each side. The test shirt just shows what it will look like, at the sides and the hem.
Sharon can do alterations for £5 (not including any postage and packing). It takes her just under an hour to do, I have to unpick the hem and top of side seams, resew the sides, trim and neaten, then redo the hem.

To take advantage of this service contact Sharon on
All adjustments at your risk

Up and Running

Had this request from Up and Running:

In the past we have had to send the notice to either you or the club secretary and asked them to forward it on to the members -
obviously this isn't ideal.

What we would like to do is ask your members, if they would like to sign up to receive this notice. They won't be sent any other promotional material and they will be able to unsubscribe.

So I wonder if you would be able to send the following notice to your members:

Dear Running Club Member
From time to time, Up & Running holds discount weekends exclusively for Running Clubs.
To make sure that you know about these events, you can sign up to receive the notice by email.
We promise not to send you any other promotional material, unless you want us to.
All you need to do is go to  - complete your details and then leave the rest to us.
There really is nothing to lose, and lots to save.
Don't forget you will be able to easily unsubscribe any time.
We look forward to hearing from you.

Weary Soles Relay

Our friends at Leighton Fun Runners have invited us to the Weary Soles Relay on Saturday 12 July - details below:

This is an off road handicap relay race for teams of five people who run consecutive legs starting from Leighton Buzzard, Tiddenfoot Waterside Park heading clockwise around Leighton Buzzard finishing at Stanbridge, Five Bells Pub.  It covers 32.8 miles using footpaths, bridleways, towpaths and small sections of village pavements.
Each team decides their own starting time with the aim to finish at the Five Bells at 3pm, meanwhile your individual times will be recorded against the WAVA handicapping system to generate points. The team with the most points wins.
Teams will compete for four different titles:
  • Fastest Team
  • First All Men's Team
  • First All Ladies Team
  • First Mixed Team (Minimum of 2 ladies)
For this event to really take off we need the support of local clubs and runners.  It’s a great way for your club to mix and socialise with the reward of a few beers at the end.  For further details and route description please go to
As this is our first year of running such an event we have limited the entries to 20 teams. Entry declaration forms are attached with an entry fee of £10.00 per team. Solo runners fee of £5.00. Entries will close on the 5th July 14 or when full. Please circulate and add to your club web sites.

Bassingbourn Half marathon

We have had this through and been asked to pass on to members:

My name is Ashley Hawkins and I am the director of Fit4thechallenge My first event is on 6th July and it is the Bassingbourn Multi-terrain Half Marathon.
I have spoken with one of you own Jonathan Clements and I have an exclusive offer just for Redway Runners.
Race entry for my event is currently £20 for affiliated runners like you guys. Well if 10 of you guys sign up by 2nd June the cost is just £17 per runner and if 20 plus sign up it is £16 per runner. This offer is just for Redway so shhhhhhhhh. All who finish my race get a medal, a bottle of water, a banana and an energy drink! On top of this included in the cost is the post out of race numbers, so need to get to the race hub early on race day to queue up for your race number. Talking about the race hub, my race HQ has everything - on-site parking / on-site showers, changing rooms and toilets / free massage / barbecue and refreshments and free transfer from Royston Station to the race.
Still not sold - well my race is raising money for brainstrust a brain cancer charity. I chose this as I lost my dad to this disease just before xmas 2013. All race info at Interested in taking part - well don't enter on-line as that will cost you £20 - please e-mail me at to register your interest by 2nd June and I will e-mail you back with the entry fee you must pay.
Then simply get in touch with Jonathan Clements and together we will get you booked in the race. Your club is huge and considering this great offer I am hopeful of maybe 50 runners from David Lloyd Redway Runners.
Hope to hear from you and together we can raise loads for Brainstrust. Any questions please e-mail me or facebook me but this offer must end on 2nd June so contact me with your interest today!!!!
