Wimpole Hall Half and 10 miles

We have had an offer for the Wimpole Hall Half Marathon and 10 mile race on the 5 October (same date as Bournemouth club trip sadly) that if we get 10 DLRR entries, the half marathon fee is normally £23.00 and 10 miler is £20 and they have offered to do the half marathon for £20 and the 10 miles for £17.50 if we can get a minimum of 10 runners to take part across both races?

We have 2 already possibly doing it - so we can gauge interest can you post below if you are interested or have entered already (or let Jonathan Clements know). So we can see if we have enough interest.

Sweat Studios, DLRR complimentary session

Sweat Studios, a new hot yoga studio in The Hub, Central MK, is inviting all Redway Runners to a complementary session on Saturday 13th September between 12:30pm-1:30pm.

Yoga and running are a great combination. The strength and flexibility developed in the core, quads, hamstrings and hip flexors through yoga not only helps you run more efficiently but also to stay injury free. Balance and breathing, further key components of a good running technique, are actively practiced during the classes.

Sweat opened it's doors in March this year and has already won legions of fans and is particularly poplar with sports people who welcome the no nonsense approach it takes to yoga, focusing on it as an exercise and health as opposed to spiritual pursuit. The classes deliver a full body workout, building strength, flexibility, endurance and cardio fitness.

The class on the 13th will be a hour one long Sweat Hot class, which is great for yoga newbies and those with some experience. You will sweat, stretch, tone and detoxify. To register to attend the session call Sweat Studios on 019086743811 or drop them an email at info@sweatstudios.co.uk.

For more information on the Studio take a look at www.sweatstudios.co.uk and https://www.facebook.com/sweatstudios

Leighton 10

NEWS FLASH: Places going faster than Mo Farah - Leighton 10: Sunday 21 September, 9am

We are going to let you into a little secret too. The name may have changed but the course hasn't. It's still TOUGH and it still has the infamous Shenley Hill to destroy any hopes and dreams of a PB ;-) BUT we can guarantee you a damn good run with the most supportive marshalls in the business, top prizes and the usual L10 post-race glow of satisfaction. This is a race organised by runners for runners.
So if you want easy then go run parkrun, but if you want to put in an honest morning's work; one which you can be mighty proud then why not register for the Tough 10.... oops sorry the Leighton 10 ;-) TODAY! It's the perfect Autumn warm-up (or Summer cool-down!) and sure to get your training off to a flyer.

Full race details on the Leighton 10 Homepage here. You can also Download an Entry Form here.

Online entry via RUNNER'S WORLD or RUN BRITAIN (no fee).

Cheers and hopefully see you on the day to Tough it out!

Ley Hill Challenge trail run

Been asked to pass on details of this event
----
The Ley Hill Challenge trail run is now in its 4th year, taking place on Sunday 5th October and would be grateful if you would inform your members of the event.

For those not familiar with the event Ley Hill is just outside Chesham. The event has 3 aims;
  •  to promote a healthy lifestyle
  •  give people a reason to run out in the beautiful Chilterns countryside
  •  to raise money for the local school who need funds to improve the sports facilities
The event is small (up to 150 entrants in total) and aims to provide a friendly atmosphere, as well as prizes for those at the front of the field!

There is a 5km and a 10km course - the latter being a challenging course which has proved a good test for runners ahead of the cross country season.

The 5km course is flatter and a great way to see the local countryside for less regular runners.

More information can be found on the event web site, www.leyhillchallenge.org.uk.

Penn Street 5K

Been asked to pass on details of this event in Penn Street on 7 September
--
I was wondering if I could ask for your help in relation to a 5k charity race that is being held on Sunday 7th September this year.  Gemma Cochrane, a friend of mine, has organised a “Go the Extra Mile for Cystic Fibrosis” event over the Summer as her daughter, Millie, has cystic fibrosis.  This culminates in a Penn Street Village Fundraiser Day on 7th September.  As part of the day there will be a 5k race.  Entry to this is £10, payable on the day and the run is off road and through woodland.
I would be really grateful if you could perhaps advertise this race to your members in case any of them would be interested in taking part – it is for a very good cause and one close to my and Gemma’s heart.  I have attached the link to the website about the day where you can also sign up to participate in the race and please feel free to contact me (on this e-mail or on 07799063229) or Gemma (her details are on the website) for any further information.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Tour of MK 2014

Been asked to pass on the information for this years, Tour of Milton Keynes which starts this Sunday, the 31 August - good all from DLRR taking part
----
As we are only a couple of weeks away from the start of the tour, would you be kind enough to distribute some of the info below to your club members.

I have had several queries over start times and locations...so thought it would be easier to get you each to distribute amongst your club members.

here are some postcodes/directions:

Sunday 10am Tattenhoe Park 11k

Monday 7pm Potterspury Cross country
Venue: Potterspury Sports & Social Club. Meadow Lane, Potterspury. NN12 7PJ

Tuesday from 7pm. Track Mile
Venue: Stantonbury stadium. Park at the car park at the end of Soskin Drive. MK14 6DP
Several races will be held, with start times dependent upon the tour position.

Wednesday 7pm. Brickhill Woods Hill race
Venue: Longslade Picnic area, Church road. This car park is 1 mile along the road from Bow Brcikhill church (MK17 9LF), on the left hand side. Parking is very limited so please car share if possible, otherwise park on the verge of the road when the car park is full. (Please note, no changing or toilet facilities)

Thursday 7pm Campbell Park
Venue: Campbell Park, near the Belvedere - park at the John Lewis end of the car park (MK9 3EP) and walk over footbridge into the park.  (Please note, no changing or toilet facilities)

Venue: Woughton on the Green Sports Pavillion, MK6 3EA
Buffet provided for all tour entrants, and presentations will take place once final timings organised.
Tour entrants will also be able to collect a 2014 tour vest - we have aimed to get a wide selection of sizes..but stock of each size is limited so we unfortunatley can't guarantee that you get the size you want!

Tour numbers and timing chips will be available for collection at Tattenhoe from Resultsbase.net. Resultsbase.net will be present at all races and will take entries on the night/issue race numbers etc for those not doing the full tour.
All races will be marked with race chalk on the floor, or ticker tape etc..and we will aim to get marshalls at key locations so that no one gets lost!

Important DLRR- EGM

At the clubs last AGM, a proposal was made by a club member to change the clubs name to 'Redway Runners' it was agreed at the meeting that this would be investigated to see the amount of work required and any significant issues as well as giving the club the opportunity to brief key stakeholders (ie David Lloyd, UKA).

This work has now taken place and the committee feel this would be a beneficial change for the club and open up in the longer term some new opportunities, this does require a change to the clubs constitution and to do this we have to hold a meeting which all paid members of the club have the opportunity to attend and vote on the change, for this we have to provide at least 21 day notice.

This meeting will be held upstairs at David Lloyd on Tuesday 23 September at 19:00.

If the proposal is agreed, then the expected timetable is that the clubs name would change from the 1 November 2014.

The committee have agreed that if the change does go through, then we would like to contribute to members who wanted to purchase new club kit and from a date of the meeting to be confirmed to the 31 December 2014, then the club would offer each paid member the opportunity to purchase one club running top, (ie tee shirt, ladies running tee, vest or children's tee) for a reduction of £5 off the normal price
