Zero to Hero 2016-17

We are really pleased to say that the success so far of this years' inaugural Z2H has meant we are going to do it all again next year.

Doug Yabsley and Stuart Woodruff are happy to continue the partnership and as ever involve anyone who feels that they have something to offer.

The intention is to agree and document separate Mentors and Runners Charters. Hopefully this will help to clarify things that this year were uncertain. With these in mind, it would be really useful to know what you think needs to be included. Please email with ANYTHING at all that you'd like to input. (

This year from as early as March we will be needing some more mentors. The invitation to participate as a Mentor starts here and now. Please feel free to formally throw your hat into the ring now.

NB; At this stage we aren't yet ready to take applications from Beginners etc who might like to do this, but do watch this space.

Thanks in anticipation of a healthy response from all of you would be Mentors

New Ladies vest

After many requests from the ladies we are now able to add to the club shop a ladies vest in the club green - it of course comes with the club logos, it come in Racerback styling and shaped side seams for a feminine fit.

It costs club members £9.25 with one name - all the details and the order forms are on the club shop at:

RockSolid Race 2016

We have a club discount code for this year's ROCKSOLID RACE - 'REDWAYMILTON2016' This will give you 15% off.

The race will be a couple of weeks later this year so that it doesn't clash with so many other events and will be on October 29th. As ever, it would be great to have as many green t-shirts there as possible (well, they will be green at the start at least) as well as a big group of mini Redway Runners to take on the STARS course too. They are also be looking for as as many volunteers as we can get to cheer the muddy nutters on. We had a great turn out last year and it would be wonderful if we could beat that this year.

Of course, volunteering gets you a free place for the year after so you can also use volunteering as a good way of checking out the event before you commit to which distance you want to run. It looks scary but it's all brilliant fun.

Remember that if you're signing up to run, everyone is booking into the 11.40 wave so that everyone can run together.

Thursday night Intervals

Further to other updates, the Thursday night interval sessions will continue with two groups and a new 10 week plan has been developed by Stuart to continue our base training before we move into Spring build sessions

This Thursday (28th) sees the completion of the first programme and both groups culminate with a tempo run.
This will be one run led by Stuart and will involve a 10 min warm up and then a circuit of Willen from Go Ape at whatever your 'hard' pace would be. Tempo runs will then be a regular feature as we move through the plans and you can measure your improvement in times
For anyone wanting an interval sessions instead, Jonathan will be leading a one off session as well this week

The new 10 week plan then commences on the 4th February based around Pyramid, Fartlek, Mile and Hill work as before. Full details of the sessions can be found on the club website

Once we get into the lighter evenings, the Handicap Run and Green Mile will be phased into the plans once a month (as we did last year) and will be a great tool for monitoring your progression

Run for Restless

Been asked to pass this on - would anyone like to run for this Charity
My name is Lucy, and I’m the Community Fundraising Officer at Restless Development. I am emailing to enquire whether members of your running club would be interested in running either the Milton Keynes Marathon or Half Marathon on behalf of Restless Development?

The races take place on Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May 2016 and thanks to the 4,500 acres of woodland, lakesides, parks and landscaped areas along the route, the Milton Keynes Marathon is known as the Green Marathon. Runners can look forward to a fast, flat course with a scenic route and tree-lined traffic-free paths. The race finishes inside the Championship football stadium after a victory lap of the pitch.
The cost for entering the Half Marathon/ Marathon is normally £30/£40, however we are offering a discounted registration fee of £25/£30. Runners have a fundraising target of £250/£500 and we will give you lots of support to help you reach this target, including a fundraising pack, a Marathon/Half training plan, running advice, dedicated fundraising support and a Restless Development running vest!
If this date doesn’t suit, we also have places in the Northampton Half Marathon on Sunday 4th September 2016. The race starts at the Guildhall, touring the town centre before heading out of town for some picturesque countryside running.
Please let me know if you think this is something your club would be interested in, we’d love to have you on board!
If you’d like to Run for Restless but can’t make these races, you can see a comprehensive calendar of forthcoming running events in the UK on the Runners World website or the Running Bug website.
Please check out our website if you would like any more information about Restless Development and the races!
Best wishes,
Lucy Bailey | Restless Development
Community Fundraising Officer
