Greensands Ridge Relay 2014

The Greensands Ridge relay takes place on the 28 June and we have 4 teams entered and we still have spaces on the DLRR teams.
This is a great fun team relay with teams of 6 people in a team, before the day you do need to know your leg as it is not marshaled - legs are shorter at about 4 miles to about 9 miles - so come on it is a great day out.
If you are interested please post below or contact Denise Browning at; denise.s.browning@btinternet.com

More info at:
http://www.smoc.info/GSRR/

New Evening Beginner group starts

We are launching a new free evening beginners course with Glenn (course number.19) on the 18 June on Wednesdays at 18:00  (first week 17:45) with the group graduating at the MK 5K parkrun on 9 August 2014

Places are limited and it is likely to fill up fast, you need to book - full details are at:
http://www.redwayrunners.com/#/beginners/4560769220

DLRR Clothing

We now have a children's cool fit tee available from the club shop as well as the new ladies cool fit tee - all the details of prices and sizes on the club shop.

We have also re-designed the DLRR clothing order form to hopefully make it easier to use - it is available on the club web site at:
http://www.redwayrunners.com/#/shop/4552626999

DLRR plan for the UK trip - Liverpool

With many of the club traveling up to Liverpool from the Rock ‘n’ Roll races on Sunday 25 May – thought it would be worth putting a few meetings for people to get together – so a rough plan is:
  • Friday evening - meet at 19.00 at The Welkin, 7 Whitechapel, Liverpool, L1 6DS (Wetherspoons)
  • Saturday morning - many doing the Princes parkrun (remember Chris and Michelle Hag run – so dress up) meet near the start (start at; 9:00am)
  • Saturday 18.00 - meet The Fall Well, St John's Way, Liverpool, L1 1LS (Wetherspoons) – wear club green and will aim to get a group photo
  • Sunday – half is at 8:00am and the full at 9:00am
  • Sunday evening – meet at The Welkin, 7 Whitechapel, Liverpool, L1 6DS (Wetherspoons)
  • Monday morning – post run breakfast – 9.30 at The Fall Well, St John's Way, Liverpool, L1 1LS (Wetherspoons)
Do not forget your green tops for the run

DLRR Road Trip - Northampton parkrun & Magic mile

Time for another DLRR Road trip, so on Saturday, 7June, come along to the Northampton parkrun and on the same day at same place at 10:00 they do a 'magic mile' as well.
Be good to get a big group of green DLRR tees along.

parkrun details: http://www.parkrun.org.uk/northampton/

Magic mile:  http://northamptonmagicmile.webs.com/

Remember the following Saturday, 14 June, we are doing pacing at the MK parkrun - if you can pace from 30 minutes upwards please let Diane Gilbert know (or via me)

Flitton Potato run

So who fancy's a run with your chips - well the Flitton Potato race is on Sunday 22 June, it is not far to travel and even better you can do the Sunday club run first, as we are at Marston Forest that morning.

If we can get groups of four we can enter teams - more at:
http://www.flittonpotatorace.co.uk/
Tim Miles recommends that as a great event.

Help School running event

We have been asked if we can get involved and help by club member Carol - so if you are free get in touch with Carol:

We are holding our annual 2K running event at our school. In previous years it has been called the Tesco Great School Run at Glastonbury Thorn, in Shenley Church End?
The dates are Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th July, we will be running 9 separate little 'marathons' one for each class, each race lasts about half an hour with a warm-up, the race start times are on:

Thursday (Year 2 children, aged 6-7)
  • 10.45am Zebras
  • 11.15am Giraffes and after lunch
  • 1.15pm Lions then
Friday (Reception children, aged 4-5)
  • 9am Leopards 9.30  Hippos
  • 10am Tigers, after a quick break for playtime (Year 1 children aged 5-6)
  • 10.45am Crocs
  • 11.15am Elephants and after lunch
  • 1.15pm Chimps

Important stuff;
1. At all times the class teachers and myself will be there so nobody needs DRB checking,
2. We have lots of first aiders on course with plasters (for the children!)
3. We literally need you to just be the 'elite' runners to help encourage/pace the children, that's all
4. It is a course with laps (usually around the playground if it's raining)

Please could you email Carol on cdowns@glastonburythorn.co.uk to let her know which races you might be available for, or if anyone wants to do a few/all races on either day, we're not far from a training run at Furzton and our children are very enthusiastic about visitors to our school! In previous years we have had fantastic support from both Jenny and Steve as well as friends from Shenley Striders and Olney Runners.
Many thanks
Carol

Round MK Relay 2014

Well done to all our teams in the Round MK Relay this year we had 6 teams entered and paid for by the club, so 24 runners representing DLRR - well done all.
A big thank you to Abi for sorting us all out. The results have been loaded to the club web site news page at:
http://www.redwayrunners.com/#/news/4552626850

During the Round MK Relay yesterday on of the runners 'ran' into difficulties - she is fully recovered now but I am pleased to pass on this note I have had through and well done to team 'Chicago Shufflers of Glenn, Denise, Jonathan and Debbie

'I am fully recovered.  Heat exhaustion, not taking on enough fluid while I was running, I was so in the run and wanted to finish the race that I only took on sips of my drink instead of stopping and taking on enough to keep me going.  I want to thank everyone who was taking care of me at the finish especially the ladies from the Chicago Shufflers'

DLRR Golfing

A reminder that one of the best 5ks of the year is taking place on Saturday 7th June ...........you just need to strike about 90 times and hit a small white ball with a stick!

That's right, the 2nd DLRR golf day is being held at Tilsworth Golf Club near Dunstable.

We still have a couple of places available for anyone interested in playing.
For further details or to book your place please contact Jonathan Clements at afterjacko@yahoo.co.uk

Bank Holiday Monday - Extra run

We will be doing leg 3 of the Greensands Ridge Relay which is a beautiful 9 mile point to point run. Denise and Warwick will be leading the route and Spencer looking after everyone.
Meeting in the big car park in Woburn behind The Inn at 9.30 MK17 9PG. The run will finish in Millbrook (Station Road, near to the Millbrook test track) you would need to sort out your own transport and car shares etc.

The evening runs on Monday are going ahead as usual

Handicap run - Wednesday 28 May

For the club Wednesday morning run next week (28 May) we are doing the 4.4 mile handicap run.
Would be great to have 4 people to help with the timing - any volunteers?
