Fantastic turnout from the club last weekend for the Bournemouth Marathon Festival with over 110 people from the club taking part in the events
Saturday morning saw a group from the club travel over to Poole for the parkrun (photo below), fairly damp morning in Poole but the rain relented a little bit for the event, which is two laps of the boating lake follwed by free tea and coffee in the club house - we were spoilt.
Saturday afternoon and it was the 10K event with lots of Redway Runners taking part - but none quicker than our own Genci who won the race Bournemouth Marathon Festival said 'The winner of the Supersonic 10k is Genci Pepaj from Redway Runners with a provisional time of 0:34:42. He spoke to us afterwards: "It was lovely, the weather was good and all the locals came out to support so I can't complain. I took the lead up after the first kilometer and held it from there, very happy to win here."
Great run Genci!'
After the 10K we got the big green photo below before the evening 5K event.
Sunday and the half marathon was first to start at and early 8am, that was followed by the full marathon starting at 10am.
Seemed to be a great weekend with many PBs being posted throughout the club over all the distances
Mention to Mark Atkinson who took part in all four events - well done Mark
After all the running over the weekend only one thing the club could do is go for food and a few drinks.
The 2017 Bournemouth Marathon Festival has launched and will take place on 7/8 October 2017
RAF Henlow 10
We had six Redway Runners at the RAF Henlow 10 mile race that goes from Old Warden airfield to RAF Henlow.
Well done to Abi who was first lady and 1st V35 lady and got two trophies.
This is a great mid week daytime race that people should do - next year it is the 65th anniversary, but with the base being decommissioned soon may not have many more opportunities to run it
Afterwards the 6 had time for some airplane imitations
Run Galway Bay Half
Well done to Sandra Mandy, Jim and John who ran the Run Galway Half at the weekend
Sandra said 'Beautiful weather which highlighted the amazing views during this 2 lap course of the Salthill Prom in Galway City. Only 1001 runners for the half. They also do a 10K & Full.
Bottle of beer, tea/coffee, sandwiches, Irish brown bread, bananas, cakes, tee & bling in the finish marquee.
We also bagged a hoodie each'
Abi wins Great Barrow
Well done to Abi Gooch who won the Great Barrow Marathon, at the weekend, she said itwas the benefit of two other big marathons drawing the faster runners away -sure that is not true

We are holding a fun and informal evening to find out what you fancy doing, what are your goals? Answer any questions you may have, all in the hope that we can help guide you on to something different and in return you help us ensure that Redway Runners Multisport can offer you something that is (guess what) useful to you!
This initial meeting (yes there will be more if there is interest) is being held on 25 October at 19:00 in the Henman Room at David Lloyd Gym.
The meeting will be restricted to 25, so we have time to answer all questions as well as letting you guys know what our ideas are for next year. Please let Burti know if you can attend at; firstname.lastname@example.org
Been asked to pass this on to see if anyone can help with this:
My name is Simon and I’m co-ordinating all things volunteering for Tough 10 (Chilterns).
This is a new Challenging 10k series for Cancer Research UK with one of these events taking place in the Chilterns at Hughenden Manor on 12 November.
We’re in need of route marshals to help with the route, directing, cheering and supporting the runners.
We know runners themselves make awesome marshals so it would be great if some of your group would be able to help us?
If anyone has questions about the event they can contact me at email@example.com
All volunteers will receive a briefing, t-shirt snack pack and have a team leader supporting them.
Our events couldn't go ahead without the amazing support of our awesome volunteers. Right now, we are looking for the following roles for our Tough 10 at Hughenden Manor:
Event Day Volunteer - whatever time you can join us at the event, there are many ways you can help out in this role. You could set up marquees, put out flags and banners, get water to the start line or hand out medals at the finish. If you have a proactive attitude and loads of enthusiasm then we want to hear from you! Find out more about this role
Course Marshal Volunteer - inspire, cheer and motivate participants by covering one of the marshal points on the course. This crucial role ensures the event runs smoothly and participants feel motivated. This role is perfect for team players with great communication skills who can use their initiative if things crop up on the course. Find out more about this role
Special discounts have been arranged for Redway Runner paid members – this is the place to find the details
