Ice Hockey club Social

We will be repeating our very successful social evening at the MK Lightning Ice Hockey on 16 January 2016 at 7pm when the Lightning take on the Guildford Flames.

Enjoy the game, spend time with friends and family and then, if you so wish, take to the ice for a skate after the match. Who knows, you may even find true love as one lucky couple of runners did at the post game skate last time.

More details to follow nearer the time

Squeaky Bone - Sunday

I've just posted up on our website the teams and details for Sunday's Squeaky Bone Relay. Link below. Any questions to me. Good luck to everyone taking part!
http://www.redwayrunners.com/squeaky-bone-relay-teams/
--

We have received the following message from the event organisers. Please could all those taking part have a read.

""Race Day is FAST approaching, so here's some last-minute information for you. Please read carefully, as we want the event to run as smoothly as possible; your cooperation is therefore much appreciated.

Collecting your race packs: Please allow plenty of time for your Team Captain or nominated member to collect your race packs. These can be collected from 8:30am on Sunday morning or between 2-4pm on Saturday afternoon. You should run in the order stated on your entry form. If you're not able to do this, we MUST be notified of any changes, no later than 30 minutes before the start of the race.

Squeaky Bones - chip timing: this year the event is being chip-timed, the chips will be in a baton attached to the Squeaky Bone. Each team will have a bone assigned to their team, this needs to be collected on the Sunday morning between 8:30am and 9:30am

Race Start and Briefing: The race starts at 10am, pre-race briefing is at 9:45am and will take place outside the main marquee.

Parking: There will be two designated parking zones (1 and 2). Please follow the marshals' instructions. If you are coming from the Bedford direction through Turvey, head for Car Park 2, (this will be sign-posted)

PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE ROADS IN CLIFTON REYNES VILLAGE.

Disabled parking will be available in Car Park 1 (this will be sign-posted), however there is limited availability.

PLEASE LIFT SHARE WHERE POSSIBLE

Waiver: In order to race you need to have signed the attached waiver, please ensure this has been done pre-race. We will have some hard-copies at race registration
Any juniors (under 18's) racing need to have parental/guardian consent to run, this can be done by signing the attached waiver. We will have hard-copies available on the day

Footwear: the entire route is off-road and will be muddy in places, so trail shoes or spikes are advised

Clothing: Please bring enough clothing to keep warm while you are waiting to run your leg or post-run.

Prize giving: will take place in the main marquee once all competitors have finished racing.

Refreshments will be available: Shaun's cafe will be selling tea/coffee and home-made cakes. All proceeds will be going to the Cowper and Newton Link, an Olney based charity.

Headphones: The wearing of headphones while racing is strictly prohibited.

Olney Runners look forward to seeing you all on Sunday morning for some great racing, camaraderie and delicious cakes.""

Cross Country - Help

Been asked if we can help at the next Cross Country on the Saturday 7 November - we are hoping to put out a lot of our runners so great if those who can not run could help - please let us know if you can help by replying to this mail or mailing us at; rr@redwayrunners.com

---
As you know Leighton Buzzard AC are hosting the Chiltern XC League on Saturday 7th November.
It is also the British Cross Challenge which will attract some top elite runners as well as a match RAF v Oxford University, so I am anxious to get it right!
The course will be fully taped except where it crosses Redways so I need marshals at these crossings as well as in the Bowl Car Park.
LBAC is a small Club but we can do the most bits but if you could find half a dozen people who could give me time from say 10.00am to 3pm or any part thereof. I can offer a packed lunch and some top class XC.
Many thanks
Richard

Bucks and MK Sports Awards

Congratulations to Portia from the club who has been nominated for Community Coach of the Year award at the Bucks and MK Sports awards. Well done also to Glenn from the club who was also nominated but unfortunately did not make the shortlist for an award

Just after being nominated Portia said 'Just had some amazing news, I've been nominated for Community Coach of the Year Award at the Bucks & MK Sport Awards 2015.
Thank you to everyone who put me forward. I'm totally overwhelmed. Coaching has been my passion, it's truly rewarding to help others reach their running potential from zero to full marathons. Redway Runners you are the best!!!'

CALENDAR ALERT - PHOTOGRAPHS NEEDED.

OK Redway Runners. Here’s your chance to be part of something special that will change your life forever. The Committee has decided to support a suggestion that we create a 2016 Redway Runners calendar. We’re now looking for members to submit photographs that can be used in the calendar. And yes, it will be a cheeky calendar along the lines of the now famous Women’s Institute model. So get your thinking caps on and come up with a photograph of yourself, or you with a group of friends, that both captures the spirit of the Redway Runners and you yourself (maybe even Simon Baker with his trombone or Jonathan Clements with a post box :-)).
Please e-mail photographs to Kevin Orchard (kevorchard@yahoo.com) by 5pm on Sunday 1 November 2015. There are a few ground rules:

1. Photographs must be as tasteful as possible and capture the spirit that makes our club so good. All “abilities” welcome.
2. Think carefully about the backdrop and try not to get arrested while posing smile emoticon.
3. Please feel free to submit as many photographs as you like. The format they need to be saved in is High Resolution JPEG.
4. Please let us know when you submit the pictures if you have any preference for a specific month of the year that you would like to appear in. We’re looking for a wide range of pictures to cover the year so Easter, Christmas and Halloween etc. pictures would be most welcome.
5. Please do not post or circulate your pictures on social media. It would be good to keep them a surprise until the calendar is released.

The decision on which pictures make the final cut will be made by the Committee. All profits will be donated to this year’s charity, Bravery Boxes.

We plan to have the calendars available for sale by 1 December. Once we are certain we have enough interest to go ahead we’ll be advertising a pre-sale so that you can ensure you get your copy before they sell out. After all, it will be a limited edition collector’s item.

So, don’t be shy. Use those imaginations and get clicking.

Club London Marathon ballot

We have now confirmation that the club will get three places this year for the London Marathon - this is reduced from four last year - it appears all clubs have had allocation reduced - see more at; https://www.virginmoneylondonmarathon.com/en-gb/how-to-enter/british-athletics-club-entry/changes-affiliated-club-entries/

Anyway, if you have been unsuccessful and meet the club rules for the ballot you must either: Applications for the club ballot must be with us by the 22 November and will be drawn at the club Christmas meal on the 4 December

You must also meet the full rules on this page on this page on the club web site
http://www.redwayrunners.com/club-london-marathon-ballot/

Redway Runners Festival of Running

We have been able to arrange a special event the 'Redway Runners Festival of Running'' on the 4 and 5 June 2016, it will be one weekend with a marathon, two half marathons and a 10K with events on the Saturday and the Sunday - so it even gives the perfect opportunity to the double and it is only available at the moment to club fully paid members

Entries are limited for each race and are likely to sell out, so may be wise not to miss this opportunity - of course we are working on an a great bit of Redway Runners bling to go with the event - we will reveal that later

All the details and entry are at; http://www.enigmarunning.co.uk/events/redway_2016.shtml

It will be one great weekend that could be hard work but lots of memories
