Dash for Dad 2015

Been asked to pass on details of this event:
Child Bereavement UK are holding their annual Dash for Dad on Sunday 21 June at West Wycombe Park, Buckinghamshire and I thought your running club might be interested.  I have attached a copy of the poster including all details and would very much appreciate it if you could share.
Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement. Our vision is for all families to have the support they need to rebuild their lives.

Henley Half Marathon

Been asked to let you know about this event:
Our website has opened and both online and postal entries can now be made. Whilst the races are on the Runner’s World, Run 247 and Running Bug calendars, I am taking this opportunity to spread our message as far as possible !
Hopefully a number of your Club colleagues will have had the experience of enjoying a day in Henley when participating in either the Half Marathon or 10k  and we hope that some of you will be able to join us on Sunday 11th October 2015 when this year’s events take place starting at 9.30 am. The start and finish are at Dry Leas, home of Henley Hawks Rugby Club where we will have a good range of facilities which will include changing and showers, plenty of toilets and refreshments. Local physios will be in attendance and off-site parking for competitors will be located a very short  distance away.
The attractive Half Marathon course takes runners through the town and across Henley Bridge into the country with a return alongside the River Thames and back through the town centre and out towards Marlow where runners face the challenge of “heartbreak” hill which offers a  mile long climb. There is an equal down hill section of course, followed by a level run back to the Rugby Club. The 10k route takes in the second loop including the hill. Maps of both courses are on the website.
We obtain road closures to ensure a safe passage through the town at the start of each event, provide water stations and employ plenty of marshals both around the course and at the start/finish areas. St John Ambulance will be in attendance.
After the challenging and enjoyable runs which are chip-timed, all finishers get a medal, event memento and goody bag.
The races are organised by the Rotary Club of Henley Bridge and every penny of the surplus goes towards national, local and Rotary charities. Every entry helps us raise money and we welcome groups using our event for sponsorship on order to raise funds for their own causes. We can offer reduced fees for suitable team entries as well. We also do our best to ensure that a number of entries on the day will be available.
Our website has all information with links to online entries and postal entry forms. We have a simple Facebook page that will soon be tidied up and updated.
Hope to see as many of you as possible on the day !
Peter, (for Rotary Club of Henley Bridge)

OU Relay 2015

Sunday 17 May is the next running of the Round Milton Keynes Relay (RMKR) organised by Marshall Milton Keynes Athletics Club.

The race is an annual event run around the 31 mile Milton Keynes boundary in 4 stages (legs) over various terrains. Normally run in May it has developed into a "fun" event with a prize giving and social gathering at the Shoulder and Mutton Public House. The RMKR is an event that attracts entries from clubs and groups in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area. Two trophies are competed for - The Pat Graves Memorial Shield which is awarded to the team with the fastest "age Adjusted " time and to the fastest team overall.
The entry fee is just £5 for the team (£1.25 each)
The legs are as follows;

  • 2 - Woolstone to Bow Brickhill about 6 miles
  • 3 - Bow Brickhill to Bottledump roundabout about 10 miles
  • 4 - Bottledump to Stony Stratford about 6 miles
