Club UK Trip

We are now pleased to announce the first UK club trip of 2016 will be to the Torbay half marathon in Devon on the 26 June 2016.

On the Saturday the closest current parkrun is at Parke - so have a look at the club web site for more info and get booked up to come along

http://www.redwayrunners.com/events/club-trips/

Bank Holiday Monday

With the long bank holiday weekend fast approaching, we will be having an extra run on the Bank Holiday Monday morning - meet at 9.30 at the barriers to David Lloyd for a one hour run with loop backs (Plan A is to go somewhere a little bit different!!)

So the full list for the weekend is:
  • Saturday 29 August - parkrun day
  • Sunday 30 August - Club run is the Handicap run - 9.00 at David Lloyd barriers (let us know if you can help)
  • Monday 31 August - Extra run at 9.30
  • Monday 31 August - Club runs at 7pm are on as normal

Zero To Hero Logo

The Zero to Hero runners asked us for a logo that can be added to club tees and vests to show they are part of the programme - this logo can now be added to running tops - it will be added below the club logo and above the name - it costs just an extra £2 per item - more and order forms at: http://www.redwayrunners.com/shop/

Redway Runners in the International News

We make it into the latest issue (No. 85) of the international Distance Running Magazine with an article written by our very own Kevin Orchard, on the Redway Runners, the Milton Keynes Marathon and Milton Keynes

Well done Kevin

Rock Solid Countdown

30 days until ROCKSOLID RACE is back at Silverstone Woodlands!

We have loads of members running the 5, 10 or 15k courses and another large group being marshals on the day. Thanks to our affiliated program the club will receive a donation to funds for every RACE entry too.

But there’s one area we haven’t taken over yet – the kids race.

ROCKSOLID STARS is the same idea as the adult ROCKSOLID RACE but made especially for kids. 5-8 year olds and 9-14 year olds can get just as muddy and have just as much fun as the grown ups on their very own 2k mini obstacle course with specially developed obstacles just for them. Kids can choose to do 1, 2 or 3 laps and at the end they’ll get a tech t-shirt and dog tags just like the adults plus an extra treat from the sponsors at Yeo Valley.

More details and sign up are here - http://www.rocksolid.life/stars

The STARS race happens in the morning and the adult Redway Runners wave goes at 11:40 meaning that the grown ups can cheer the kids on for their race and families can hang around (once the kids are changed and warm – there are HOT showers on site) to cheer on the adults. There are even tractors with trailers who can ferry people around the course to the best spots for cheering. Perfect!

So come on Mums and Dads, give your kids their own day in the mud. It’s only fair

Remember – the sign up process for adults is different:
The most important thing is that you must sign up using the link below for Redway Runners to get the credit for the sale. http://www.eventbrite.com/e/rocksolid-race-milton-keynes-20…

Teams have already been set up with the names listed below.
• Redway Runners 5 (for the 5K)
• Redway Runners 10 (for the 10K)
• Redway Runners 15 (for the 15K)
The password for all of the teams is ‘Redway’

Our adult runners are starting in the 11:40 wave on the day

Beat the Barge Final Update

As a last word on the event, the accounts have been finalised and all the feedback forms have reviewed

The good news is that 100% of the returns said that people enjoyed the event, would do it again and that it was great value for money -  on that basis we are pleased to say that the event will return in 2016!

Some learning points from your comments have been taken away and will be incorporated for next year – additional marshals and barge timing/visibility to name just a couple!

We are also pleased to announce that, despite not intending to make a profit this year, the event raised around £100 for our charity of the year Bravery Boxes

Our event sponsors, Theresa & Sian, ran a raffle on the day to win a bundle of Forever Living products (pictured) which was won by Rachel Edwards – congratulations!

They have also kindly offered club members a discount on this bundle of 15% so if you have now tried the samples from your goodie bags and want to purchase some items now is your chance!
To buy items or for full product catalogues please contact Theresa Warren: 07795 681153 or Sian Carter: 07724 662141

Thanks again to those who took part and volunteered and who made it a fantastic day – see you again in 2016!

Kimbolton Castle Half Marathon

At the Kimbolton Castle Half Marathon we had a group of Redway Runners and the ladies won the ladies team prize with Linsey Ryall (1:28:43), Sarah King (1:36:44) and Sarah Lawrence (1:47:31)

Well done all that took part.
