New DLRR Weekly mail

You have hopefully already noticed we have a new weekly mail, we have gone live with a new mailing solution, this provides the club and you with a much better weekly newsletter

For those receiving it should be much easier to read with:
  • links on the left to find what you want easier
  • able to use images
  • an unsubscribe button at the bottom
  • should be better for mobile users
For the club, life should be easier as previously we had to send the mail out in 24 blocks, the management of mail addresses is much easier as well, we also get information back on performance. A big plus is it is free for the club as well!

Anyway we will be learning as we use it and hopefully using more of the tools that come with the solution, but if you have any feedback, good or bad, please do let us know by replying.

Also thanks to Kas for helping with the set up and training.

Marathon training plans

Over the last few days a group of us have been working on the plans for the 'class of 2014' marathon training journey and they are coming nicely into shape.

The Sunday training runs will be keeping the things that worked well in the last two years and get great feedback; like the social side, the loop backs, doing different routes each week, as well as some new things we are developing, like having drop off points for runners not training for the marathon and want a great Sunday run, having a paced run and new people involved in helping with the runs.

We are also putting together 3 marathon clinics for next year and we have the dates booked as 7 Jan, 26 Feb and 25 Mar, we just have to finalise the speakers over the next few days (they are looking good speakers), so put the dates in your diary and we will let you know more later

Anyway that is just a taster of what we are planning - all the details will follow soon.

Squeaky Bone 2013

Well done to all our teams at the Squeaky Bone Relay put on by Olney Runners on Sunday 3 November,.
Thanks to Julie and Maria for all the work in organising the teams
The results from Squeaky Bone relay and on the club web-site (shaded our runners and teams in the results spreadsheet so they are easier to spot).
This year we had 11 teams from the 47 taking part in the event in far better weather than in 2012
Overall we had 4th and 5th teams home, all our teams did really well and we won the Veterans team, our ladies team came 2nd and our mixed team came 2nd as well. Additionally Keith Miller ran the 4th fastest time on the day

You can open the results on this page:

Beginners groups

Had the following feedback from Jenna about the beginners group that completed parkrun today (well done Gareth and team) - if you want to experience this then look for our next beginners group - the one starting on 11 November is full (actually over-subscribed):

Hiya again!

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Gareth and DLRR. The beginners class was fantastic, the encouragement we have had from Gareth and from all the runners today on the park run was brilliant. Looking back at the training advise and dedication Gareth had shown to the group, is hard to believe it was a FREE course! I started as a non runner hating running to now 9 weeks later really enjoying it. I'm looking forward to joining the club and really getting into running. I would highly recommend the course to anyone
