Really pleased to announce that we have been able to arrange a special event the 'Redway Runners Festival of Running'' on the 4 and 5 June 2016, it will be one weekend with a marathon, two half marathons and a 10K with events on the Saturday and the Sunday - so it even gives the perfect opportunity to the double and it is only available at the moment to club fully paid members
Entries are limited for each race and are likely to sell out, so may be wise not to miss this opportunity - of course we are working on an a great bit of Redway Runners bling to go with the event - we will reveal that later
Please do pass on this information with anyone interested in starting running or coming back to running.
About time for a green parkrun and a road trip - so:
This Saturday, 19 September, we are going to have a green parkrun - wear your green tees and a tutu if you have one, we have a couple of our runners doing 'special runs' we will aim to get a big green photo before the event, meet near the start at 8:45 - 8:50
Then on the following Saturday a road trip to the Buckingham parkrun for the 26 September
New Jacket and Body Warmer
We now have added to the club clothing range a green soft shell jacket and body warmer (body warmer in picture) they are green with the club logo on front.
They come in men's or women's versions - the one pictured is a large body warmer (the jacket is same but with sleeves)
Prices and sizes on the club web site along with updated clothing order form at; http://www.redwayrunners.com/shop/
Sunday 10K training run
For the club Sunday run on 20 September, we are doing a special with a timed 10K training run at Caldecotte lake starting at 9am.
This session is also with our 'Zero to Hero' group who will be reaching the second milestone on the journey to the Milton Keynes Marathon next May.
But to make this work we need 3 or 4 people to help with the timing - if you can help us out please let us know
Sunday club run - 4 October
The Sunday run on the 4 October is going to be a paced run at Willen Lake. It will be up to 90 minutes so suitable for all abilities even if you just want to come along and do one lap of the lakes. To make it work we are going to need some people to come forward that are willing to look after a pace group and then try and stick to that pace. It would be great to cover as wide a range of paces as possible. If you are interested then contact Paul Woodward
Worlds biggest HAKA
We have been asked if we can help the Parks Trust in their efforts to create a world record in doing the HAKA - sounds like fun and all the info click here
Tour of MK 2016
So the last night of the Tour of Milton Keynes was on Saturday and it was the Willen 6 from Woughton Pavilion.
A fantastic well done to all those that completed all 6 days of racing. We had a few extras making guest appearances and great to see some of our Zero to Hero runners doing this event as part of the journey.
Following the final race is always a chance for the runners to enjoy a post race buffet and a drink or two and the presentations are completed, good to see some of Redway Runners getting prizes with Linsey Ryall, Julie Martin, Geoff New and Kelvin Smith.
Last Sunday we had a large group of runners take in the Bacchus marathon and half, this is held on the Denbies Wine estate near Dorking in Surrey.
At the water stations which are every two miles they have wine available as well as biscuits, chocolate and fruit - not an event to be taken too seriously as can be seen in the picture with most of us running in fancy dress.
If you can run on a Wednesday daytime this is a great race to look at:
--- There will be a non-returnable entry fee of £17.00 for RAF and affiliated club runners and £20.00 for unaffiliated runners; entries must be received by Wed 23 Sep 15. Late entries will be considered on a case by case basis. The number of runners is restricted to a maximum of 150. Cheques are to be made payable to RAF HENLOW SERVICE FUNDS and must be sent with the entry form and a SAE to Henlow 10 Road Race, PEd Flt, RAF Henlow, Bedfordshire, SG16 6DN.
Been asked to let you know about this event:
-- This year’s Regent’s Park 10k is back and now is the time to enter! The event is organised as a fundraiser by national adoption support charity After Adoption and we would very much appreciate it if you could promote the run to your members. We work hard to ensure it’s a great run and are sure they will rate it highly.
Woughton Community Council are putting together a Get Active Day on the 26 of September (9:45 -3:30) that will promote healthy eating and lifestyles to residents. The day will be full of one hour taster sessions hosted by the MK Dons SET, MK Lightning, Pure Gym and others (see poster below).
The day will conclude with a community fun run through the parish (roughly 5-6km) - anyway Redway Runners are going to attend and promote the running club, and hopefully sign up a few runners for our next beginners group, so we need your help with a few people in green tops to come along and talk to people on the day about the club.
Sarah Loftus is coordinating the day for us and already has support from Martin Lawrence, Glenn Dickinson and Debbie Dickinson - but we will need a few more people to come along (if you have done one of our beginners groups an ideal way to help us)
Please get in contact with Sarah Loftus if you can help - or reply to this mail and will send on
Squeaky Bone 2015
This year’s Squeaky Bone takes place in Clifton Reynes near Olney on Sunday 1 November at 10:00am.
Organised by Olney Runners, this 3.5 mile event is open to all ability levels, you just need to have four team members. Each member runs the entire 3.5 mile cross-county route and then hands their Squeaky Bone baton to the next team member. We have always had a good turnout for this fun event and hopefully we can muster up plenty of teams this year.
If you would like to take part please e-mail Kevin Orchard (email@example.com) your name/date of birth and pay the £10.00 entry fee - by bank transfer referenced SB15 to the Redway Runners bank account;
