Update; 16 July 2015

Furzton Relay approaching

Not long now till the clubs major event of the year with the Furzton Fun Relay on the 26 July.

We now have over 60% of places filled, we have teams not only from Redway Runners but also including, Shenley Striders, Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers and Scania, so if you want to be in a team, do not hold off getting your entry in, just find three friends and get entered.

To stage this event and the profits go to the club charity of the year, Bravery Boxes, we need plenty of volunteers so if you can help for a few hours on the day, starts at 13:00 please let us know (contract Andy Hully or Katie Tucker or reply to this mail and will forward it on).

We also sell cakes so if you can help with donating cakes please let us know.

It is going to be a great day - all the info at:

Can you help - confidential

Help needed on:

1 August 10.30 (same weekend as Dublin)
8 August 10.30 (same day as Beat the Barge - but timings would probably work that could do both)

On 1 and 8 August at 11am they are holding recce runs at Rushmere Country Park. If they go smoothly it should pave the way for permanent permission for a parkrun later in the year, parkrun have restrictions on publicising 'potential' events so can not post on social media (please do not post this info either), they need 40-50 runners and half a dozen volunteers at 11am on 1 and 8 August to meet at the Tree Tops Cafe car park at 10:50am.

Any help would be wonderful. People don't need to sprint it any pace is perfect. We just need to show that we can get round without kicking any dogs or mowing down any anyone,

Redway Runners Summer Family Fun Run

We are holding another of our Family Fun runs - these are for paid Redway Runners members only and will be on Monday 27 July 2015 - 9.30 at David Lloyd Barriers (Please choose a safe place on the path when waiting at the barriers).
Family Fun Run is open to  ALL AGES AND ABILITIES. Duration is 60 mins (includes walking to the event site) the session fun activities involving small bursts of running.
What to wear: (please check weather)
We recommend the little ones come with trainers, comfortable clothing.
Welcome to bring snacks, cakes and drinks as a reward.
NO Dogs on this event.
The signing in on the day will act as a disclaimer in agreement- Remember you will be responsible for your children for entire duration of the run. Qualified Running Coach and Group Leaders are willing to share their experience and enjoyment of the sport. I confirm that I understand that participation in this group is entirely at my own risk and should consult my own doctor if suffering from any condition that might make running injurious to my health.
For Buggy Runners: I understand that I am joining a buggy running group at my own risk and accept full responsibility for the health & safety of the infant(s) and any equipment I attend with.
Any questions please contact Portia Simond or Martin Lawrence.

Redway Runners @ the NSPCC MK Half Marathon

Great turn out from the club to run and support the the half marathon last Sunday (12 July).

Special thanks to Jenny Dowling and all the helpers at the Redway Runners water station at mile 9 that is a place when it is always really welcomed, you did a fantastic job.

Cooler conditions helped  the runners and sounds like some great times achieved - looks like we had 62 running under Redway Runners.

The stretcher party with Sally the dummy managed to get Sally an official time of 2 hours 16 minutes and 42 seconds we had nine in the group - not sure Sally got an easy ride! and looked a bit worse for wear by the end - thanks to Doug for all the efforts in creating Sally.

Results at:

Well done to Ben Fairhall for third place in 1 hour 14 minutes and 46 seconds.

Redwaty Runners at Race to the Stones

Below are the Redway Runners Secret 7 at Race to the Stones last weekend, a before and after picture. So many highlights including meeting up with a lot of the MK runners at Pitstop 8 including Julie (thanks for her excellent support). We knew 100km non stop would be tough but could have done without the torrential rain at 99km! Still it was a weekend about teamwork and friends. Also huge congrats to Jen Sangster on her time for running the event and all the Redway runners that took part in this difficult ultra

Stowe Races

Whilst we had a big group of runners at the NSPCC half marathon in MK on Sunday we also had a number at Stowe for various distance races - all of which seem to have reports of running considerable extra distance!! - well done all.

Help MK Get on your Bike event

Can you help at this event - please contact them direct if you can
The MKGOYB Bike ride this year (see "") for details, has 20 Mile ride and also a Short cut to reduce it to 12 Miles. as well as a childrens 2 Miles ride, We are looking to get help with marshalling the main 20 Mile ride.
This goes from Bradwell, to Sheley , Shenley Church end, Tattenhoe, Furzton, Peartree Bridge, Willen , Great Linford, Bradwell and back to Bradwell abbey.
Altogether we require a minimum of 41 Marshal, we currently gave a promise of up to 15 from Naval Cadets.
The rides start at approx 11:00 hrs and we would expect Marshals to be in location at least 1/4 Hr before start and dependent on where they are located a maximum of 2 1/2 hrs if nearer the finish.
If we can get volunteers who live around the route we would obviously locate them close to where they are. afterwards they would be welcome to come back to Bradwell and enjoy the rest of the event activities. or should they be local before and after the Ride
The event date is Sunday September 6th 2015, If you can help contact Dave on 07811720066 or mail at;

Well done Dee

A while ago we put out a request from club member Dee to help with some research she was doing and thanks to all that helped - pleased to let you know she passed - well done Dee

ROCKSOLID RACE 2015 - Redway Runners Affiliated Programme

ROCK SOLID RACE is back for 2015 on 19 September at Silverstone Woodlands, I’m pleased to let you know that Redway Runners are now part of an affiliated programme with ROCKSOLID - this means that if you enter the club will receive a donation to the club funds.

The most important thing is that you must sign up using the link below for Redway Runners to get the credit for the sale.

Teams have already been set up with the names listed below.
  • Redway Runners 5 (for the 5K)
  • Redway Runners 10 (for the 10K)
  • Redway Runners 15 (for the 15K)

Our runners are starting in the 11:40 wave on the day

RockSolid Race Volunteers required

Once again this September, we have a large group of Redway Runners taking part in the Rock Solid Race at Silverstone on 19 September.  We'd love to be able to provide a big group of volunteers again this year too and have discussed with the organisers having our own - GREEN - section of the course if we can get enough volunteers together.
All volunteers would receive the following:
-          Free lunch - (had this last year and it was a good amount of food.)
-          Free technical crew t-shirt and drawstring bag.
-          Free hot drinks on arrival.
-          Free overnight camping on Saturday if required - there is generally a party atmosphere in the evening and an on site pub for drinks.  Think last year there was a band too.
-          Free parking.
-          Discounted future race rate which brings the costs from full price down to £10 for the 5k, £15 for the 10k and £20 for the 15k.  Last minute race places for Rock Solid can be as much as £60 so this is a really good deal.
It would be great to have as many volunteers as possible there on the day to cheer on all the runners - our own especially of course!  So if you're available on September 19 and would like to marshal then please email Sarah Loftus, at by Wednesday 5 August with your name, email address and telephone number so that she can send a list off to the organisers in plenty of time for them to assign us an area of the course.  Sarah marshaled last year so should be able to answer any questions you might have about the day.
Hope to hear from you soon.
