Zero to Hero

You can now see from this weeks cover photo we now have our 33 runners (well 32 in the photo!) who are doing the clubs first 'Zero to Hero' programme and working to the MK Marathon in May 2016 - the programme is now full

We have met all the runners and we have found many have different starting points for zero to start from so will be taking it relatively slowly to the 5K parkruns - but many have joined the clubs new beginners group so will be building up to the first 5k at parkrun.

Each runner will be working towards the MK parkrun on the 25 July, the a club timed 10K on 20 September, the MK Winter half in December and then the marathon.

Each runner has been allocated a club mentor to help them and they will be blogging about how they get on - so expect to see regular updates on progress - a couple of the blogs are below they make great reading:

Amanda -

Elizabeth -

Stephanie -

We wish them every success on the journey - any questions on the programme contact Doug who is leading for the club.

All the info on the programme including key dates and who is mentoring who is at:

Farewell from Gwen

Gwen has asked us to pass on the message below:
Dear Redway Runner Friends
It was tough enough to leave you all and move back to Scotland without being deprived of the opportunity to say goodbye properly and in person. I have greatly enjoyed both running and socialising with you all and the group is full of good people who I am delighted to have met. I would also wish to thank all of you who sent messages of support and who visited me during my stay in hospital following my fall and injury. The amount and sincerity of the support messages I received supported me greatly and I am sure in some way assisted with my early rehabilitation. I am now walking on one crutch and begin Physiotherapy this week. Although running once more seems likely to be challenging at least, I am optimistic that I can regain my fitness in time. I will follow you all jealously on social media as you report upon the races and I truly wish everyone at the club the very best.
With fondest regards
Gwen Jones

parkrun Road Trip - Tring

With MK parkrun cancelled on Saturday, club Road Trip to Tring parkrun event 35 and 137 finishers - plenty of hills at Tring and PBs could also be ruined by the stampeding cows!

We had 21 running - not enough to take Tring Running club record but we are 2nd biggest club by number of runners who have run Tring parkun

Well done all and thanks to all the volunteers today

Sunday run 14 June 2015

Club Sunday run was from Stony Stratford with 45 out - for Sunday club run info see:

Redway Runners at Endure 24

Proudly showing off their medals at the end of Endure 24, three Redway Runners teams Moo Kamp Runners, Mixed Bag and Why Are We Doing This? They notched up an impressive 96 laps or 480 miles between them. Well done all

South Downs 100 mile race

Well done to Steve Morris from the club who completed the South Downs Way 100 miler in 27 hrs and 58 mins on Sunday 14 June with support from fellow  club members Spencer and Veritie. Veritie just for fun ran the last 35 miles with him

Amazing and awesome achievement - we are all super proud - after the event Steve said, 'What an amazing and emotional weekend. Yes I've just run 100 miles but I am truly touched by the amount of support, messages and positive vibes sent my way all day and night. I feel so lucky to have had the most amazing team supporting me all weekend. Spencer has been incredible every step of the way and I seriously doubt I would have completed it without him. Veritie was given the impossible task of pacing me from mile 65 when I literally didn't have the energy to jog the downhills! Without her by my side I would have ended up sleeping in a bush for an hour at least and may well have DNF. You guys rock and I owe you both massive thanks.

I feel a blog coming on. So much to tell. What an experience!'

New Club kit

The club is now the proud owners of four sets of this kit, so expect it to appear in some of the club runs.

We have purchased this kit with the help of a grant from SportMK

Help at MK Women’s Running 10km Series

Had this through from Caroline - not sure if anyone interested but if you can help contact them at:
Hullo from TrailPlus. On  Sunday 5h July 1000am we are back at South Willen Lake for the Women’s Running 10km Series, starting at 1000am. We are currently recruiting marshals and would love to hear from anyone who is interested in getting involved on the day. If this includes you, here are the key details so please read on!

The event ‘hub’ is located close to the ‘concert bowl’ area  and just to the north of the Premier Inn. It will be clearly visible on open grassland so you won’t miss us.

Please head across to the white marquee and ‘sign in’. Some of you will be put to work immediately so can you ensure that you have gone to the loo, got your bag , etc – basically be ‘ready to go’ for no later than 0830am. Please also check that we have your correct mobile number and that your phone is fully charged just in case we need to contact you or vice versa during the event.
You will be issued with a high-vis bib to wear throughout the event as well as given a full briefing regarding your role(s). A briefing sheet will also include key contact numbers to call in case of any incident.

There are a range of roles that will need to be undertaken by our team of marshals. Please understand that we do ask you to be flexible and responsive but  most of all be enthusiastic in encouraging all the runners throughout the morning. We hope everyone will muck in at the end of the event to assist with the ‘tidy up’ and expect to stand you down so to speak sometime close to 1230pm, but invite your co-operation if we are running a few minutes behind schedule.

YOUR REWARDS (see graphic above)
Women’s Running Magazine are offering everyone involved an exclusive package of goodies this year! There’s a limited edition hoody, a special Event Crew Tee shirt plus one of the finisher’s goody bags. And that’s not including the enjoyment and rewarding experience in  being involved in this inspiring event.

If you wish to be involved please follow these simple steps:
·         Email me with your name and mobile contact number (only to be used on the day and for no other purpose)
·         Let have the name and number of any friends or colleagues who wish to come too. We have room for about 6 teenagers who can work with their parent or guardian. First-come, first-served!
·         Let us have your tee shirt and hoody size.
Feel free to spread this opportunity across social media as we intend to have a team of 30 helpers  involved on the day.
Thanks for your consideration and we do hope we see you on the 28th June.
