Yesterday Governor Ivey issued a statewide masking order in response to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state. The order states in part:
“Effective July 16, 2020 at 5:00 P.M., each person shall wear a mask or other facial covering that covers his or her nostrils and mouth at all times when within six feet of a person from another household in any of the following places … an outdoor public space where ten or more people are gathered. But this facial-covering requirement is subject to the following exceptions.
Exceptions for exercise. The facial-covering requirement does not apply to:
(iii) Any person who is in a swimming pool … though wearing a face covering or social distancing is strongly encouraged if safe and practicable.
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the PRA Board has elected to make the following changes to current pool operations. Effective immediately any member entering the pool must be wearing a mask. Members without masks will be denied entry to the pool. Any member utilizing restroom facilities must be wearing mask. Members must be wearing a mask when purchasing items at the Snack Shack. Likewise, PRA staff have been encouraged to comply with Governor Ivey’s order and should be masked, especially when social distancing cannot be observed. Guards will not wear mask when on stand due to heat concerns. All members of PRA utilizing pool facilities should comply with Governor Ivey’s order for the safety and well-being of our organization, including exercising parental/guardian discretion with respect to the needs of your individual minor.
Additionally, all PRA social activities such as, swim team, adult night, Piedmont's Got Talent, and other activities in which more than ten people are invited to attend, are cancelled for the remainder of the 2020 season. The priority of the PRA Board is to ensure the pool facilities can remain open for the enjoyment of our membership through the end of the regular pool season. To that end, the Board made the decision to cancel these events. Doing so is not an easy decision, as all of us look forward to many of these events on an annual basis. Even more, many people have volunteered countless hours this summer in anticipation of these events. However, it is the role of the board to make decisions which are in the best interest of the organization as a whole.
If you elect to utilize PRA facilities, please be courteous of those around you, sanitize often and maintain compliance with our current COVID-19 Guidelines. Should you have any questions or concerns please contact Paul Killian at firstname.lastname@example.org.
