THRESHER SHARKS: The Most Distinguishable Species of Sharks.
Thresher’s are best known for their long and whip-like tail that measures even more than its own body. The thresher shark’s tail is so large that it accounts for 33 percent of the shark’s total body weight.
DID YOU KNOW that Thresher Sharks are known for slaying their prey with their huge tails and are also famous for special jumping techniques and behavior called “breaching” where they jump out of the water and into the air. They are one of the few sharks that are able to fully jump out of the water.

The Ocean’s Biodiversity Hot Spot is one of the world’s biggest and most important marine regions.  The Triangle is a billion-acre ocean region controlled by Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Timor-Leste. It's importance to  the world's oceans can't be downplayed: The region encompasses a full 30 percent of the world's coral and has the highest diversity of corals and fishes in the world. It's a place to know—especially if you're concerned about conservation and coastal communities, which many are.

U.S. Postal Service to Issue Sharks Forever Stamps
The U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the wonder of sharks by issuing the Sharks Forever stamps featuring five species that inhabit American waters — the mako, thresher, great white, hammerhead and whale sharks. Customers may preorder the stamps in early July at for delivery shortly after the July 26 nationwide issuance.

Mythologized and misunderstood, few creatures capture the imagination as sharks do. With this sheet of 20 stamps, the U.S. Postal Service® showcases five types of these amazing fish, which emerged long before dinosaurs and are now uniquely adapted for their top-predator role in the marine food chain.

Coral reefs teem with life, covering less than one percent of the ocean floor, but supporting about 25 percent of all marine creatures.  However, threats to their existence abound, and scientists estimate that human factors—such as pollution, global warming, and sedimentation—could kill 30 percent of the existing reefs in the next 30 years.
